We paid Paul C******* on 2/24/23 as a down payment for work. He asked us to pay him personally instead of Buckeye Construction, LLC. After we paid him, he sent over an initial contract via email. I requested the contract be amended prior to signing. I have followed up with him for 4 weeks trying to get the contract updated in order to sign the contract and move forward. Since there was no work done nor progress on our project, I requested a return of the deposit. Paul refuses to return the money in full and is claiming that we owe administrative fees which were never disclosed nor discussed. My biggest concern around the administrative fees is that he claims that I need to pay him for his time answering my calls, texts and emails over the past 4 weeks. However, these short calls, texts and emails were to follow up on the status of the amended contract. I find it very unreasonable to charge me for reminding him of his commitment to amend the contract.

Good morning, first off, I due apologize to all parties involved as we always strive for the satisfaction of our clients within reasonable manner. I would like to start with this complaint has indirect and mis-leading statements. There was significantly more work completed then just doors, flooring, and cabinets. the condo was a unit that was caught on fire and was down to studs when we started the work onto the unit. This unit was previously worked on by 2 other contractors. to include but not limited to drywall hanging, drywall finishing, painting, trim, custom bathroom tile around the fireplace, fireplace install removal of stairs, we did receive a phone call from condo association that the water line had busted in the unit," this was prior to us hanging any drywall and or cabinets. we did go out there immediately to stop the leak and suck up the water to prevent any other damages from happening. (I would like to include that the plumbing was completed prior to us starting work on the project. by another company. we did agree to hooking up of sink and washer lines and those items originally. the water was then stopped, and the condo management team repaired the lines.
We then moved forward with the project of hanging drywall and flooring and cabinets, once items were nearly complete there was issues with the water lines that required removal of cabinets and drywall patching and tile patching. there was an addition charge for this work as it was not at the fault of us this had to be completed.
I would also like to explain a situation we are had/having with the doors. the doors are special order and was placed on order by *****. once the doors came in buckeye construction installed the doors, the homeowner then said they was the incorrect doors, so we contacted ***** got new doors places on order "not the same as what the originally doors were to be" but then doors came in and we replace out the doors. one door was damaged and was noticed at ***** by buckeye construction and a replace was again ordered for the single door. the other doors were installed. the homeowner wished for her painter to paint the doors this time so buckeye construction and ***** ***** (husband and induvial buckeye construction was in contract with). agreed on a price of 500.00 that was removed from the final payment for the painter to paint doors.
After completion of everything but the one door, buckeye construction finished all inspections with the city and received all sign off paperwork that the unit is now able to be occupied. we then met ***** ***** out on site and did a final clean out and punch out list, Buckeye Construction and ***** ***** was there for about 3 hours and did a final walk through with him and ensured satisfaction of the project was complete. ***** ***** once Satisfied with all finished items paid the final payment.
Buckeye Construction was informed during the process of the project, by ***** ***** that things like this happen with every contractor they use, and contractors never do a second job for them. Buckeye Construction was also informed not to work or deal with miss ***** ***** but to only deal with the husband ***** *****.
Buckeye construction contacted ***** ***** after receiving notice of the complaint to see if there was a fault in Work performed or additional items besides the door that need attention. He then informed Buckeye Construction " no there was not issue or fault with the work performed, he had asked his wife to remove the complaint as there was no issues and he informed me that it just led to a argument and there was no more he could do.

I am rejecting this response because: Paul Left our door to our condo open and turned heat off resulting in our pipes to bust. Then he did not submit it to his insurance he told us to submit it to our insurance. Our insurance said that the contractor needs to file under his because of his negligence. Then he had us pay for stuff that was a result of his negligence and leaving a door open in the winter and having the heat turned off.

      Regards,

      ***** *****

We understand Mrs. ***** remains unhappy. We do not have a contract with her. She is not our customer. The bottom line is we did not leave her door open in the middle of winter. Again, we did nothing wrong and it is not fair that this is in our record. Thank you.

He charged us extra 675 for leveling of around stairs. That was not done. The stair company came out and leveled the floor. The wood floors are not around the whole platform, their is drywall on floor where it can be stepped on.
