Advertising Review
In November 2023, BBB contacted ZymeAway LLC regarding claims in its advertising.

Its website and online advertising state ZymeAway is "American made."  According to the BBB Code of Advertising, "Made in USA” and similar terms used to describe the origin of a product must be truthful and substantiated. An advertiser must not express or imply that a product or product line is exclusively “Made in USA” unless all or virtually all of the product is made in the U.S. All significant parts and processing that go into the product must be of U.S. origin. That is, the product should contain no — or negligible — foreign content.  The business did not respond to BBB's request that it provide substantiation that its product is made in the U.S. and contains no or negligible foreign content.

Its website and other online advertising include the claims "Non-toxic, non harmful," and "100% Biodegradable."  Advertisers must possess competent and reliable evidence (often scientific evidence) to support all environmental benefit claims. Non-toxic claims likely convey that a product, package or service is non-toxic both for humans and for the environment generally. Thus advertisers must either possess competent and reliable scientific evidence that this is the case or clearly and conspicuously qualify the claim to avoid confusion. Advertisers may make an unqualified degradable claim if they have competent and reliable scientific evidence that the entire product or package will completely break down and return to nature within a reasonably short period of time after customary disposal.  The business did not provide substantiation for these claims.

Its website includes the following statements:
"Dog Shampoo...Safely eliminates dust mites, fleas, and odors"
"Organic Horse Shampoo. Cleans away skin bacteria and fungus."
"Ringworm treatment for people and pets"
"Safest Organic Pet Shampoo on the Market"

According to the BBB Code of Advertising, claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy, or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data. The business did not respond to BBB's request that it provide any recent scientific studies or trials in support of its claims.
