I hired Justin Davis to repair a retaining wall at my residence. His business card indicated his company name as Davis Construction & Remodeling. The quote letterhead was Davis General Contracting LLC. We agreed on a price of $4140 which would result in a "new beautiful walkway" and include removal of existing retaining wall, cut an even 10% grade on existing walkway, cut existing topsoil flower bed flat, install 4 inch corrugated perforated drain system, install 12 in hexagon retaining block using current wall blocks, reinforced with steel inserts and landscape block glue, install decorative number one river wash gravel aggregate to new walkway at maximum 3 in depth, install decorative caps on retaining wall, remove approximately 2 ft of sloped topsoil and regrade for consistent fall off main flower bed. I paid him $2090 at the start of the project. He worked on the project from 6/9 to 6/22. On June 22, he requested and I paid another draw of $1000 to purchase additional needed materials. Since that date, no materials have been delivered and he has not returned to complete the job. I have made multiple attempts to contact Mr. Davis without a response. I have since noted he is responding to people on **** **** who are requesting quotes for various projects; however attempts by me to contact Mr. Davis through **** **** have also gone without a response. Per my records, Mr. Davis worked approximately 35 hrs between 6/9 and 6/22. The cost of renting a dingo, materials supplied, and his labor total approximately $1800. A hardscape contractor has pointed out to me the poor quality of work that had been completed; including incorrect caps, not placing the first row of blocks below ground level and not placing a limestone base which has resulted in soil washing away from under the wall causing the partially completed wall to be unstable. The entire project will need to be redone. I feel Mr. Davis owes me a refund of at least the additional $1290 I paid him.
