II have no words to describe my experience at this shelter, as to how sad
and horrible the conditions were for a cat that I was trying to adopt.
After connecting with this cat and the cat bonded with me, my
application was denied two days later, which I expected. Simply because
the woman running the shelter, with over 100 cats in a few rooms of a
home, acted like she did not like me. She gave me no reason for the
decline and did not contact my vet for a reference like she said she
needed to do before making a decision. I drove an hour to Mansfield to
hold the cat, that drooled on my chest and was in pain from her
gums/teeth. I wanted to rescue her from this co called rescue, the very
person that said no thanks, that she would not be granting me to adopt
one of her precious "babies". The smell was so bad, I had to make
myself not gag by continuing to swallow, while I was there. The cat had
been there for over four months, she seemed to get aggravated the more
questions I asked, because I wanted to take the cat home and needed to
know her history. The cat that she supposedly loves so much, that stays
in a corner and does not interact with the other cats, and was in pain,
didn't want to leave my arms........ she did not know the cats previous
name. She had to get out a file to tell me what her name was. I have
rescued three dogs. This was the worst shelter/home I've ever walked
into. If she does not want to give the healthy ones homes, she should
not have them posted online, and then tell you no. when you have a
perfect history at your vet, and a very loving, newer home to offer a
senior cat, to be told no. I went by my gut and looked online. The
google reviews are very bad, people saying their cats legs were broken
when they went to pick them up from the shelter's vet services. One
woman said they gave her cat back to her and it was dead, in a crate,
and said here's your cat, she's fine. Her beloved pet was dead.
