I took our sons car in because there appeared to be oil leaking from somewhere. I have dealt with Progressive Chevrolet for 30+ yrs and know the owners. I have defended this business in the past when people asked why I dealt with them. When they looked it over they said the oil pan and the oil cooler needed replaced and the cost was $2900. We were leaving for a cruise and told them when they called to go ahead and fix it because he needed his car with us going to be gone for 2 weeks. When we picked it up and drove it home(less than 2 miles) there was now coolant leaking on the driveway. I called back and spoke with Mr. M****** the shop supervisor and was told to bring it back in. He tells me that the water pump went bad and I said driving home less than 2 miles it went bad? He said yes and I refused to pay it. I spoke with Tim S****** the owner(since we knew him from dealing with them 30+ yrs) and he agreed to wave the cost. They replaced the water pump and we drove it home and there was coolant still leaking. I called back and spoke to Mr. M****** again and he said bring it back. He called and said now that the coolant reservoir had cracks in it eventhough I never had an issue with it. I had them replace it and drove it home and still had coolant leaking. I took it back and then was told now that the radiator had a pin hole and the output hose was bad. I told them to shove it up their ***. I took it to another shop and immediately they said it was a blown head gasket and the radiator and hose were bad and that more than likely is what caused all the other issues. So because of their incompetence, in total it cost $6100 when it was done. When the second shop fixed it I had no problems after the first trip. STAY CLEAR OF THEIR REPAIR SHOP!!!!!!!!! We were 30+ year customers and purchased new vehicles every 3yrs and was treated like this.

Took our truck in for transmission work on a Wednesday, was told we would at least get a call Thursday to let us know what was going on. Drove by multiple times all day just to see our truck hadn’t even moved from the spot it was in when we dropped it off. Finally got a call on Friday saying they took it out multiple times Thursday, let it run for hours and drove it 60 miles but again the truck had never been moved until Friday when they took it out. When returning to pick up our truck we discovered a crack in our windshield. They are refusing to do anything about it even after showing them a picture of the windshield on Wednesday right before the truck was dropped off and there was no crack. Told us “even if it happened while one of our guys was driving it, it still falls on you.” When mentioned that if we brought their rental back with a cracked windshield it would be on us to fix it but their response was just “we aren’t talking hypotheticals here” as they proceeded to hang up on us after asking to speak to a higher up.

I purchased a vehicle at Progressive Chevrolet and wanted to pay by Check, personal or Bank. but the salesman refused and insisted I finance, and then they (the Dealer) told me a minimum amount and then how to pay it off (Instead of one lump sum.) And now I have fees from the bank totaling almost $4700.00. When I could have just wrote a check or went to MY bank for a check. I do NOT find this practice appropriate for a dealer to decide if a costumer finances or not. I would appreciate any advice or further action I could take on this matter.

found a car online and got an estimate with it clear I was to pay in cash with no hidden fees I drove 2 hours. Apon arrival I was given a new estimate and in the middle of signing stoped. They had added 2900 dollar opitonal service and I was told if financing it was optional but not with cash. this is not what I was told nor expected! since then I have got a new car in the same town with the option being available but not a have to and not for 2900 dollars

This morning at 9:40 a.m. I scheduled a test drive for a 2022 Chevy Trax with Mickey, for 4:40 p. m. She verified that the car was still available and when I asked her the price she answered "$23,695. Our prices aren't super set, so we might be able to talk to the manager about bringing it down a little." I called Mickey a little after 4 to let her know that I would be about 10 minutes late due to traffic, but that I was on my way to test drive the 2022 Chevy Trax. I got to the dealership at 4:51 and was met by Garrick, who would be helping me in place of Mickey, as she was busy with another customer (understandable). Garrick was fantastic! He was patient and really nice, and he was very transparent throughout our conversation. I started off by telling him about the car I got from them 8 months earlier that was a 2020 Trax (we unfortunately were in an accident and the car was a total loss) and that I loved the car so much that I was back for another one. I was straight to the point and I already knew the dealership price, so I told him that if he could get me the car for $25k out the door, I would sign the paperwork then and there. Garrick excused himself to talk to his manager to see what he could work out. He came back and said that unfortunately, the car that I was there for had been sold earlier today and that they didn't have a 2022 in stock, but he had pulled up another Trax. He took me outside for the test drive and told me that the Trax he brought out was a 2020 Trax and that it was the dealership's courtesy car. The Trax had just over 3,500 miles on it, and is still considered new by the manufacturer. I asked Garrick what the final price would be, and he said that he would pull that up while I take the test drive. When I got back from the test drive, Garrick had all the numbers back, so we sat down to discuss. He told me that he added the $500 healthcare worker discount (I am a healthcare worker) and added the $500 down I had with me. The final price they were asking for was well over $34k. I told Garrick that there was no way that I could do that, and asked why this 2020 Trax with 3,500 miles was over $10,000 more than the 2020 Trax with 15 miles 8 months ago. He said that because of the car shortage, inflation, and covid, dealerships aren't offering as many incentives and are charging sticker price. He asked what financing I had, and if I would consider financing through them. I told him no, that I was happy with my credit union's loan and that my interest rate couldn't be beat, but thanks. Garrick asked me if he could get me in the car for $25k I would sign for it, and I said yes, so he wrote that on the buyer's order and I signed. He excused himself to talk with his manager. 20 minutes later the manager came over. He seemed really hostile at the start, and started with "Garrick wanted me to come over and explain why the car is so expensive." I told him that I know why it's so expensive, but what I don't understand is why they are trying to upcharge over $10,000 for the same car I got 8 months ago with 3,500 less miles on it. General manager John went on to explain that with covid and an inventory shortage, he only had 5 new cars and he's charging sticker price. I told him that there was no way that I was paying over $34,000 for the car. If I was going to do that, I'd buy a 2022. He offered to order me a 2022, to which I said no. He said "The only way I'll let you leave in that car for $25k is if you finance through us." I again informed him that I was not interested in their financing, I had an approved loan just waiting for me to pick a car and that I'm happy with my lender and that they couldn't beat my interest rate, so it was a hard no. General manager John said "well it's a hard no for me too." He was going to say something else, but I just cut him off. Politely, I told him that that was disappointing, thanked him for his time and wished him a good night and left. After leaving the dealership I was able to have the value on the car pulled, and it was only valued at at $25,252. 20 minutes after leaving the dealership, I got a call from Garrick. He said that after I left he and General Manager John had talked, and that John felt bad and offered the car for $26,100. I told Garrick that I had just had the value on the car pulled, and that even if that was a good deal, I would not be coming back because of the way that General Manager John talked to and treated me. I told Garrick that I was sorry that he's missing out on a sale, but that it wasn't his fault and that he was great, but that his General Manager speaking to me that way was unacceptable and ******. General Manager John couldn't even call me himself to apologize or make the offer, instead he had a salesperson do it for him. All around, it was a bad experience and totally unexpected. The car that I was assured would be there for me was not, and nobody told me before I got there or when we started discussing prices, even though I talked to Mickey 20 minutes before I got to the dealership. The General Manager has a ****** personality and can't apologize for himself. The cars are marked up however much they want, because they can. And even though it's legal for them to coerce you into financing with them, it's morally pretty gross. I'm disappointed.
