Complaint against McClure Insurance Group that handles Nationwide and Progressive insurances
I had insurance through the McClure group and with Nationwide. 1 received a statement stating my payments will be increasing the next policy period beginning March 7, 2024.
I contacted them weeks prior to that date, at the ************ to see why the increase and if I can get a better quote.
I was quoted better with their other company, Progressive.
I agreed to have the Nationwide policy cancelled and start the Progressive on March 7, 2024.
However, I received an email stating that Nationwide was taking out the funds automatically from my bank account on March 7'.
I called right away and asked if the email was sent by mistake and if any issues. I was told that there was not.
Later, same day, I get a call back stating that there is an issue that the funds of $63.31 was going to be withdrawn on March 7".
I asked if they can stop it. The lady, ******* says no. She forgot to cancel policy and would I like to just change things next month.
I said no. I called weeks ago to set things up for March ahead of time and it should have been taken care of. This month was going to be a difficult month for me financially and I was trying to avoid the increase ahead of time.
Frustrated with services. They failed to do their job. I told them I have nothing to do with McClure group insurance and to not even start Progressive. I was worried of now having two auto insurances taken out. I asked for a refund of my funds of $63.31 as well, that they could not stop from being withdrawn. I am taking my business elsewhere.
March 11, 2024 Progressive had taken out $39.18
This should not even have taken place either, since my new auto insurance, not affiliated with them, on ' March 8" had already contacted them.
I no longer wanted to deal with the agents. It took multiple phone calls and very stressful to find out who was above these agents and who can help me.
I have learned that Nationwide I have contacted, is separate from them and Progressive is as well. I can not make this complaint about them. This is through the McClure Group.
I don't understand how I got them to begin with, when they have been increasing my policy at renewals over the years and I contact them and they switch me back and forth between the same companies to work out a better quote.
I then receive a letter dated March 19th that I now owe $93.31 due on April 2, 2024. On the policy of Nationwide that was supposed to be closed all along.
I did find a number of Nationwide and spoke with someone to try to handle the situation. Days later, l received a call back from a Nationwide consumer relations person.
This person informed me that they tried to pull the amount of $63.31 out of my account but it had been stopped from doing so. That they refunded me the amount but wasn't able to even pull it out.
I went to the bank. Yes, they deposited a refund but only in the of $61.31.
I feel I only owe them the $61.31 that they refunded and I do not owe them for a bank cancellation fee at all.
This was their mistake. It should have never happened and the policy was supposed to be closed all together.
I was under the impression they got the money out of my account electronically, since they couldn't stop it and my bank even said it was in there to go through.
The bank had advised me to put stop payments for future withdrawals and close down my account.
As you can see, Progressive did electronically take out as stated above.
I contacted Progressive ***** and they refunded the amount on March 22'.
Nationwide consumer relations person states I owe $63.31 for the policy they refunded me but as you can see, in copies included, that it was for $61.31.
They also state, that since they could not withdraw the funds of $63.31 and there was a stop payment fee of $30.00, which is a total of $93.31, is now due on April 2,2024.
I should not be responsible for the bank fee when it was clearly their fault.
I am sending a cashiers check in the amount of $61.31 that they had refunded me (but wasn't able to withdraw) I should not owe $63.31 because that is not what they refunded.
As you can see copies, of the cashier's check that they will receive in the amount of $61.31.
I should not be responsible for these extra charges for their mistake and clearly not doing their job. This has caused me great stress with starting a new account, having to order checks, new bank cards, transfer everything, messing up my social security disability deposit funds and worry about paying bills on time next month, etc.
Thank you for your time.
