To Whom It May Concern,
My name is ****** ******. I reside at ** **** ***** ****** **** *** *********** **** *****.
I came home on May 5th 2022 of this year, after spending a week away with my friends, to a nightmare!!! As I approach my door I noticed a foul odor. As I entered my apartment, it got worse. I followed the smell to my bedroom, where the smell was unbearable. I thought sewage had backed up in my apartment, but that was not the case. As it turned, the resident above me (**********) toilet had overflowed, it was not water. I called emergency maintenance and they showed up with shop vacs to get the fluids up, but to no avail. The damage was done!
That was Sunday May 5, 2022. On Wednesday May 8th, 2022 I left the premises. I could not stay and take the odor anymore. The maintenance team said they would have a carpet cleaner man come in on Thursday May 9th, the next day. I could not wait, so my friends picked me up on Wednesday, and I have been gone since. I came back a couple of weeks later to pay the rent for June and to talk to the manager about putting my rent in Escrow, but was too late, and June's check had already been cashed.
To put it bluntly, I am living in an extremely high biologically toxic and hazardous environment of fecal and urine matter that has accumulated over a 15 year period! That is how long he has lived in this building! It is affecting my health! My hair has been falling out, I have developed a rash on my upper torso, and there is a possibility that I may have to be personally tested for mold, not to mention that I have been breathing in the urine, dirt and fecal matter particulates that are not only in me, but in the carpet, walls, and overall my entire apartment.
On the times when I do sleep in my apartment, I have to sleep in my living room with the bedroom door closed, and a towel underneath the door. By the way, did I mention that his wasted flooded my bathroom, bedroom, and part of my living room! And yes, I live in a one bedroom apartment. There have been two carpet cleaning treatments with no noticeable effects. The smell, above all else, still remains.
I have contacted various outlets to no avail. No one has contacted me. Now, because of his lackadaisical attitude and filth, I have bugs: roaches, spiders and various other insects I cannot identify. Not to mention mice! I am done! I have had it! This man is a walking biological hazard on a monumental scale who doesn't care. I challenge you to come to this building and go to the second floor. The smell will hit you as soon as the elevator doors open. Mr. ********** is in Room ***. His apartment is right above mine.
I am praying that something will be done as soon as possible after reading my letter. I do not know what else to do. I came home May 5th 2022 to a cesspool and left three days later. I periodically come back because I have obligations to uphold and after two days, I am gone!
I am dealing with a person who just doesn't care and an apartment that I am not able to consistently live in because of all the bugs. Not to mention the abundance of smells. Because of his filth, I have to get rid of my dresser, bookstand, side table and two baskets that were in the bathroom; because you know, wood is extremely porous. You can already see signs of mold on the bottom of my belongings. I WILL be seeking compensation for my articles lost.
This is not just an issue about my apartment. This also involves other members of the building community. Such as a resident on the third floor who cannot put on his air conditioner because the smell from apartment *** wafts up to his apartment. Another example is the fact that absolutely no one wants to go near him because of how he smells, destroys furniture and walks around with an unprotected gangrenous foot.
I am at my wits end! I am made, tired, sick, exhausted, and just done!
This has been an ongoing problem since May 5,2022 and no one, and I mean no one, should have to live like this. I deserve a clean, healthy and safe home to live in. At present, it is not!
I would greatly appreciate a response to my letter because I am not going to let this go!
I await your response,
