Date of transaction- 11-15-2023 Amount paid them- 1,505.00 (half) The business contracted to build an oak curio cabinet with glass door at precise measurements. The dispute: The cabinet was the wrong size. The door was backwards and the wrong size, also warped. The legs were made wrong - was unlevel. To resolve the dispute: they wanted more money to rebuild or they would cut it down - no money was offered for refund. They have the money and we have nothing!! They gave no contract and no receipts.

In response to the Consumer Complaint #********

Prior to us ordering anything from our company, clients are required to sign off on the quote and on the drawings. The drawings specify all the details and all of the measurements of the curio cabinet(s). We offered to have the curio cabinet reworked by the vendor. This solution would have been at no charge to. The client declined this solution.

The client then added updated specifications, which would require the curio cabinet to be remade. These added specifications were added after the curio cabinet was produced. This would be chargeable to the client. The client declined this solution as well.

We are a custom and semi-custom cabinet retailer. All products that we sell are made to the measurements provided by the client and those measurements are signed off by the client.

All sales are finale, per our company policy.

This is the second purchase from this client. This client was already made aware of our no return policy on special ordered material. This client attempted to return their first purchase. (An entire kitchen)

In late 2021, we contracted with a company called **** **** ***** to remodel our kitchen. The design of the kitchen was done by Select Kitchen Design, and the cabinets were provided by SKD as well. Remodeling began in January. The drawers and doors all self close, or they are supposed to do so. The drawers were all fully assembled, in the cabinets, and boxed at delivery on arrival to our house. *** installed all of the cabinets for us. No adjustments were made to any of the drawers by ***. One of the seventeen drawers will not self close. When we discovered the problem shortly after installation, we advised ****, the SKD salesperson and designer. His advice at the time was to use it, and it should work itself out over time. He said to call him and he’d fix it if it didn’t fix itself. It didn’t. I advised him of that after about a month, and he said he’d see what he could do. I have corresponded with **** several times since then, and he denies responsibility for the faulty drawer. He refuses to fix it. His claim now is that my contractor is obligated to fix it. All of the drawers except for one worked properly right out of the box, no adjustments needed. The drawer with the problem sits 1/4-1/2” lower than the drawer next to it, like the rails aren’t level. This seems to me to be a manufacturer’s issue, and should be resolved by the manufacturer or its dealer, Select Kitchen Design. This assurance was once given to me by ****, their salesperson.

I received this complaint and immediately got in contact with the ****, the homeowner. We found after further investigation that there was a miscommunication with the install company and it wasn't relayed to ****. The install company will be taking care of the drawer on Monday the 8th of August. There were many other doors and drawers that needed modified that the customer didn't even know about because it is done with every job when the hardware is attached. Most of the time a drawer that sticks becomes "unstuck" after some use. This one did not and therefore the contractor will be adjusting it or putting in new drawer glides.

      Thanks,
      **** *********

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. My contractor came out today and adjusted the rail on the drawer that was not properly aligned during the manufacturing process.

      Sincerely,

      **** *****
