I went to Miamisburg Vision Care on 7/22/22 for contacts. They did a test I said no to Bc it isn’t covered by insurance and still billed me for it. After that was pointed out, the doctor took that charge off but now it’s back on the bill. I want it taken off. My insurance, BCBS PPO always paid for contact fitting and trial at Fisher Swale Eye center in Bourbonnais IL. I was shocked when I got to the check out counter when they told me I owed them $87. I felt super uncomfortable- Bc I never had to pay anything at previous eye drs.I wrote a check I ended up stop payment I realized my insurance would pay it. My mom and myself immediately called them and explained the entire situation. I explained how uncomfortable the checkout process was and that they didn’t listen to me that my insurance covers contact fitting and trial. They kept telling me that there is no code to send to the insurance company for them to pay for the contact fitting and trial. However, my previous eye doctor used a code and I never had to pay for contact fitting or trial pair. Instead of understanding and trying to figure out what code needed to submit to the insurance company, by calling them, they charged me for it. On my EOB, it says my insurance paid $112.55 to them. The EOB states I owe $0. However, on their bill to me is $25 “FUNDUS PHOTOGRAPHY, reduced service diagnosis Z13.5 (I assume this is the test I did not want and was told they would credit that back to me) and $62 “contact lens eval and discussion for current wearer” diagnosis h52.13 I’ve worn contacts for years. I’m 34 years old and never has an eye doctor charged me for contact lens trial or fitting. My insurance always paid for it. I’ve received bills for $97 including returned check. I’ve sent in $10 and $5 payments but they claim I still owe $87. I want the test charge taken off, like they said they would do and only charge me for the stop payment fee for the check. They have received plenty of payment from my insurance.
