Tarred and Weathered is owned by Dennis D. They are local to Madison Township and his daughter goes to school with and plays basketball with my daughter. His wife ***** also works for the company. They were contracted to replace our siding. As it got closer to completing work, ***** asked for the initial payment to order supplies. Due to us knowing them and being local and a newer company, we have them a cashiers check in the amount of 6,038.00. This was given the end of May. I inquired several times about a start date but ***** always gave me an excuse. They were sick or Dennis was injured and she said she would get with him and let me know. August came around and Dennis said to deal directly with him, ***** was going back to work. He said he has ordered all the material was just waiting for it to come in. Weeks go by and I hear nothing. He blocked my number, quit responding to messenger, and ignored all my request to either do work or refund our money. As of March 19, 2023, work is still not complete and they have not refunded any part of the money.Initial Complaint

On September 22, 2022 I paid Tarred and Weathered Roofing in full to put on a roof, my main concern was a leak by the chimney in which was damaging the wood. His proposal included to replace the wood by the chimney and to put in a chimney flask. He finally came out at the end of October to start the work. In January 2023 we check the attic and found out he did not fix the problem. It still leaks by the chimney , since then I have try several times to contact the owner. The numbers have been disconnected , I sent emails no response I sent a letter on Feb 1st 2023 still no response. I go by the company address no trucks are there. Now I am going to have to pay someone else to fixed the repair. I have since then found out by other consumers they are having problems and not been able to reach him also.Initial Complaint

This business came out and “worked” on our roof after a tornado damage. He said he would contact our insurance and let them know of the condition of our roof. He cut siding from our garage which was also damaged. He told us he would handle everything and get us a new roof and siding. After 2 years…. 2! He never contacted our insurance. The claim was closed due to him not contacting them. We have contacted the **** Attorney General regarding this matter. He has obviously done this before. As seen with prior complaints. Our roof has a patch job and has been like that for two years. Can’t contact his listed number. It’s been disconnected.Initial Complaint

In April 2021 I hired tarred and weathered roofing company to redo my garage roof. My insurance state farm sent me the check for the garage roof which I signed over to Dennis at Tarred and weathered roofing company. The amount of the check was $1,689.04. After months of not hearing from them I called and after several attempts I got ahold of the owner Dennis. He assured me that he would make the situation right and install my roof. He said he needed the state farm paperwork to send them to be able to get paid for roof. I gave it to him and contacted state farm and told them he would be contacting them on the issue. It's been since December that I've reached anyone at tarred and weathered roofing. I've left dozens and dozens of voice messages and dozens of texts and have not heard anything. Please help me with this issue. People like him should not be allowed to run any business. Is this considered insurance fraud? I just want to get the money back for services not provided.
