I signed a contract with HTC Roofing to replace the rubber roof on the second story, asphalt roof on the 3rd story, and siding (vinyl, sides/back, and lp siding, front), and a ***** skylight on a house I am flipping in **** **********, **** ****** ***. I have now caught HTC in two situations with the installation of the two roofs and skylight that makes me, question if any of the roof work was performed correctly. The contract to replace the roofs is for $5,500 and it has been paid in full. They owe me $384.85, which I should have deducted from final payment and forgot due to me providing the roll of rubber used. The contract for the siding is for $24,000, they have been paid $12,000, no work has been done on that. The contract for the skylight is $1,000 and nothing has been paid on that. I am seeking cancellation of the siding contract and a return of my $12,000 immediately. I want to have the roof work inspected by another roofing contractor and if they find anything improper with the installation of either roof, I want my $5,500 refunded, and I will return the skylight installed after a new one is in place without paying anything on that contract. I had a online chat with ***** manufacturer who was able to confirm via the pictures sent that in skylight was not installed correctly; "Buz 07:25:57 pm The second picture looks like the curb is on edge. Not crazy about the gap but the sealing and flashing have not taken place yet so it is incomplete." I felt wind coming in the skylight (his crew member confirmed) and brought up concerns about the cosmetic look of their work to owner Heath C****. He was adamant that the skylight was installed correctly and would not leak and he said he did not feel wind. While he has relunctantly agreed to redo the skylight now that I have spoken with ***** I do not want him to do that work. ***** provided me with their installation instruction and per that document the warranty is void due to provable improper installation.
