We thought it would be worthwhile to check out Lancaster puppies because the prices were less expensive than the bigger companies like puppyspot. There's a reason for the price difference. There's zero oversight. We purchased from a woman named Aurelia J*****. She listed a dachshund. The site does not have a distinction for mini or not. People will put the word "mini" in the name, but that's more of an option. The goal would be to check the size listing which is thought to be relative to the breed, and contact the seller regarding whether it's a mini. I asked questions about the size and for additional pictures. The pictures were taken such that you could not see the size of the dog. I specifically asked if the dog was a mini and she responded in a way that I should have taken alert to. She didn't say yes or no. She said that the mother is 11 lb and the father is 13 lb. This gives you a relative approximation of how big the dog would be and is mini range. Aurelia was very pleasant so we gave her the benefit of the doubt. When we got the dog, he was bigger than expected. I weighed him later in the day and found him to be 16 lb. At 15 weeks old, he was double the size of one of our full grown mini dachshunds. Still, the cute puppy won the hearts of my family with its giant paws and big floppy ears. That night, I did research, spoke to a friend that's a vet, etc. The charts we read and the information that we had was that this was definitely not from 11 and 13 lb dachshund parents. He would eventually be likely over 30 lb. His thick paws are like a child's fist. I contacted Aurelia just to be told that she does not offer refunds. I didn't expect one. She's 7 hours away and the website doesn't help. About a week in the dog started butting heads with my dogs. This led to my son and I being bitten multiple times and my 3-year-old mini having her ears gashed in several places. Blood everywhere. Don't buy from a site that doesn't hold its sellers responsible.
