February 15.2023 My name is ***** *******. I hired Slabmasters of Ohio at ** ************* ***. ****** ****** ** *****. To raise my cement slabs that sunk. November 02, 2022 SlabMasters came to my home and raised the slabs. Their job was almost complete by the time I got home. I am very disappointed in the appearance of the walkway. They used a pinkish-orange caulk between the slab joints, and there is caulk on several spots of the cement and caulk on the step. The cement circles look horrendous. They should have explained how it would look when the job was complete. I delayed filing this complaint because it was too late in the season, and leveling companies were closed. A company came out yesterday to look at the job. In their opinion, it was not a well-done job. Attached is a picture of the walkway. Thank you, ***** ******* ************Business response

Yes we spoke with the customer when she called about her front step that we leveled.
We told her we would send someone out to look at her step, she claimed it wasn't right.
I stopped by and looked the work over, the step was level and back to the witness line with no trip edges anywhere. I told her there is no problem with the step that it was raised back to it original position. Plus as she said all leveling companies are closed until spring!
SlabMasters Does Not Offer Caulking, which our customer's are told from the first phone call to billing out. If she wanted the holes repatched she never reported that? As a matter of fact this is the first we have heard about caulking (which we don't do) and the holes. We have repaired holes due to color, reason a flaw by the concrete maker. But she never said anything to us.
As far as a company coming out to look at it.
Was it a leveler or maybe a concrete company wants to tear it out and replace it?? A leveler could do nothing with it, because the step is right where it was poured to.

I am rejecting this response because: I was never told they don't caulk, and it is not in the contract. The job looks horrible. I am a woman in my 70s who knows nothing about raising concrete.
It should have been explained to me what the completed job would look like!!! It is an eyesore with so many circles where they drilled the holes!

The business has stated they are willing to come out and address the issues with the concrete holes. As stated the batch of concrete was bad and discolored the holes. The business stated they do not caulk and that is not something that was offered and would not be addressed.

Slab Masters of Ohio provided a written estimate on 8/10/22 for driveway and sidewalk leveling at our home. Work was performed on 8/30/22 and payment in full in amount of $1,475.00 was made same date. After work was performed, downspouts were later found to not be draining properly. Upon further investigation it was determined that a hole had been drilled in downspout pipe beneath a portion of the concrete driveway. A large section of the PVC downspout pipe was found to be filled with slab jacking material, preventing water drainage through the downspout. Expenses already incurred to correct this error total $1,245.00 to include camera diagnosis of clog, demolition of concrete driveway section, replacement of damaged downspout pipe, and jet flush. Additional expense to replace driveway concrete will be incurred in Spring 2023. I expressed concern to Slab Masters staff while on site about possible compromise of the downspouts from drilling holes in the concrete in close proximity. I was told that this should not be an issue. I did not pursue this discussion further at the time trusting they were the experts, and if they were not concerned I had no reason to believe additional problems were going to occur. I have called Slab Masters twice since. I spoke to a lady who indicated she would relay my concern to the owner. This was before Thanksgiving . After the holiday, I called a second time and left a message expressing my dissatisfaction. To date I have not been contacted. Because I had been given assurance by Slab Masters that compromise of my downspouts was not a concern, I feel there is some responsibility on their part to compensate me for the expenses I have already incurred to fix the problem that their work created, as well as the additional expense I am facing to repair my driveway in the Spring. I feel Slab Masters has an ethical responsibility to correct the problem that they created.Business response

I am rejecting this response because:
I've reviewed response to my filed complaint. The problem was not identified immediately after work was performed, but after several rains it became apparent. Although I have no specific call records, SlabMasters was contacted. With no response and winter approaching, I took action to have the problem corrected. I was advised that replacement of the compromised downspout pipe was the necessary corrective action.Although I find the business response disappointing, I do not intend to pursue further action other than refraining from doing any future business with them.
