Around December 22, 2023 I purchased a package of Bob Evans glazed apples. Sometime before I called them to complain o/a January 18, 2024 I prepared the glazed apples to be eaten. After checking consuming a few forkfuls I chewed down on something hard. I pulled it from my mouth and discovered that it was an apple stem. I called Bob Evans to complain and they seemed understanding about my problem and told me that I would receive coupons. They requested that I send a picture of the apple stem and I emailed this off to them January 25, 2024 at 11:58 PM. The coupon offer was satisfactory until I received the coupons for nothing that I would purchase because I don’t like anything that the two $5.00 were offering (Bob Evans, Simply Potatoes or PEBBLES Waffles product). These coupons for those products are not acceptable since my complaint was about glazed apples.

      Good morning,

I reached out to the consumer this morning and explained to her that she could use the coupons that we sent her for the Glazed Apples.  This issue has been resolved.

      Thank you,

Bob Evans Original mash potatoes contain these black disgusting chunks which are obviously contaminants, rot mold or rat feces. This is the second time I purchased this family style original mash potatoes to find them. I rinsed the potatoes off of them and they are fuzzy black.

On July 7, 2023 I purchased a 2 pk of Bob Evans single serve mash potatoes at Walmart in Kingston NY for $4.12. The potatoes were white water with lumps and did not taste right. I still have the other serving to return for examination. My numerous attempts to contact this business went unanswered. When you call you can only get to a voicemail and they don’t respond. I want a refund or a replacement.

Their frozen egg cheese sausage croissant sandwiches are no good. The croissants fall apart even before you cook them. The box I had said 02-21-24 it was not even close to expiring. I have been buying these for a few years & they were pretty good. But the last several months they have been like this. The croissants crumble in your hand just pulling them out of the box. They are $6.79 a box.I buy them at least once every 2 weeks. I like their larger sausage patties like hamburgers.

      Dear ***** ***,

Thank you for sharing your experience with one of our products. We’re sorry it did not meet your expectations. Bob Evans Farms prides itself on adhering to the highest standards of quality and your comments help us track down any product that does not meet those standards.

Based on your input, our Quality team conducted an internal investigation into what could cause our frozen egg cheese sausage croissant sandwiches to fall apart before they are cooked. We reviewed quality, production and maintenance records from the production run provided. Samples were taken from the beginning, middle, and the end of the run. All quality measurements were within specified limits.

Additionally, shelf-life samples are retained from each product manufacturing run and are sent to a third-party laboratory throughout the year of shelf life to assure our products meet or exceed the stated shelf-life date.

Throughout our testing and research, we were not able to recreate the scenario you described and believe it may have been caused by an event that occurred after the product left our facility. If the product is exposed to temperatures above freezing for extended periods, the product integrity could become compromised. It is difficult to pinpoint exactly where this might have occurred.

We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused. If you have any additional questions or would like to discuss this issue further, please do not hesitate to contact our Consumer Services team directly.

      Sincerely,

      Consumer Services
      Bob Evans Farms

Consumer called BBB and left a voice mail stating she got a letter from BBB which is a joke because she doesn't use the Internet and isn't wasting her time writing letters back and forth. She said Bob Evans did not send her a letter and she just won't buy their products anymore. She said BBB can close this complaint.

We purchased a roll of sausage in August, as my husband was eating a slice, there was a fish hook in the sausage patty. Thankfully he did not swallow it. I contacted the Company and have proof of the incident and I have been waiting on an investigation regarding this issue. I was informed yesterday 9-9-21 the contact I was relating the info to is no longer with the company. I have not received a response as to who is taking over this investigation. I have been cooperative and patient dealing with this matter, however, this company does not seem to care.

      Good Afternoon ***,

Here are the results from the investigation into the foreign object found in the sausage:

The fishhook is still in proper condition it is impossible for foreign material to come out of our system unchanged. The diameter of the final plate is 5/32” and the width of the hook is twice that size, reviewing our process flow chart it is a closed system and for foreign material to have entered, it would have been prior to the final plate grinder. The hook was received undamaged, indicating it could not have gone through our machines as it passes through 4 plates with varying diameters and 3 knives between them. The images attached show that it cannot even pass through one of the plates.

I am including the pictures that were sent to the plant as well.

      Sincerely,
