We were out on the waitlist to be transferred to one of their other apartments down the road in June of 2021. We were told that we were first on the waitlist for a one bedroom apartment. On October 1, 2021 we were told that they had an apartment come available and after they fixed it up it would be ours. A couple weeks went so we called to check and they told us we were moved down on the waitlist and the apartment was already filled with another occupant. On November 1,2021 we were told another was open and we would should start packing our stuff up and when we went to check on it the next week the apartment was also given to another occupant. We called and asked why it wasn’t given to us and our landlord told us because it was “outdated” and she didn’t think we would want it. So she said they were putting brand new everything in another apartment and that would be ours. We went in Friday December 3rd to see how I’d the apartment was done, she said it was and that we would be able to get the keys and sign the lease on Monday the 13. They did an inspection on that Monday and said the only thing that needed done was to paint the walls and put in new carpet which she said was not our fault because that’s how it was when we moved in. she then told us they didn’t have time to do the lease signing and would have to tell the owner how the inspection went. We received a message on ******** messenger saying that we were denied due to uncleanliness of our apartment now due to the 2 dishes and boxes out. It was fully cleaned over the weekend besides 2 dishes from lunch that morning. But we’re told on Monday during the inspection that our apartment is cleanly and they see no problems with anything in the apartment. I am putting this complaint in because we have had most of our things packed since October and finished packing over this past weekend after we were told we could start moving on Monday. It was also unprofessional to message this over ******** and not a phone call.

This resident was promised they could transfer to another apartment pending an inspection. The property manager and two maintenance personnel did a walk through with the residents in their current apartment and it was in unsatisfactory condition. We discovered the toilet was very dirty, along with the shower. There was a greasy food substance on the stove, the floors needed swept, mopped and vacuumed. The carpet was heavily soiled and there was a strong animal odor. It was discovered there was a cat living there with no documentation. As seen in the picture the resident attached to their complaint there is food, dirt and debris on the floors and along the baseboards and wall. Also please see the large run of a substance near the cabinet on the wall. There were holes from a human head going through the bedroom door that the residents had attempted to repair themselves. Based on this inspection we informed them we would not be moving forward with a transfer to a new unit. We stand firm on our decision at this time. We did agree to re-inspect when the next available unit comes available with the owner & management staff for a possible transfer if the apartment is in better condition at that time. Thank you.

I am rejecting this response because: We spoke to the maintenance men, the day we were

told our apartment was “uncleanly” and they denied saying it was dirty or speaking to the owner. We weren’t told we had to do a walk thru until 2 days prior, which is also when we were told to pack the entire apartment. Also, I told the landlord that I had just cooked before I had to go back to class and was not able to do the 2 dishes. The landlord said that it was okay and would not affect anything. As far as the carpet is concerned, they were like that when we moved in, it is documented and we also have pictures from the day we moved in. I told her the carpets were shampooed and she replied “don’t worry about shampooing them again, they are getting replaced when you move out since they were already damaged.” We we’re also told that the door was no issue since it was repaired because they can just paint over it. Before the walk through was even done the landlord was trying to give the unit that she said was ours to her friend and push us down on the list again. Yes we were promised the next available apartment in writing upon inspection but that is because they know we will have to wait at least another 6 months since so many leases were signed
