On December 12, 2023 Joel Temple of Grounded Repair answered my service requestc call to see what was causing my new dryer to stop midcycle. After explaining the problem in detail Joel assured me that he would be able to help.He said it sounded as though it was not installed properly. He said he had an appointment window available between 2:45pm and 4pm. He also informed me that a $75 service fee would be charged and deducted from the service repair cost. However after arriving at approximately 3:00 and looking at the dryer for no more than 6 minutes Joel said he could not not repair the dryer. He said that it appeared that the duct hose needed cleaning and he did NOT do that type of work. I shared with him that the duct hose was new. He crudely stated I don't do that type of work. He proceeded write out an invoice and charged me $80.44 for absolutely NOTHING!Business response

The customer called because their dryer was not heating. After getting to the job site the dryer was heating fine. I then tested all the functions of the dryer using GEs technical manual. I verified the motor, fan, heating element and thermostats were working properly. I determined the issue with drying the clothing was the dryer vent.
The customer had contractors that had moved the dryer out of position and cut parts of the ceiling out that the vent went through which she neglected to tell me until I arrived. The other contractors had somehow damaged the venting that was In the attic of the condo above the ceiling. I had no way to access the attic, I do not carry ladders or work in peoples ceilings. This company should be responsible for the repairing the vent they damaged, because there is nothing wrong with the dryer.
The $75 dollar fee I have is a standard charge to keep my business operating. If I took the time to schedule the call, drive to the property and diagnose the problem that fee is collected no matter what.
