      I hired Kota Maintenance to replace my front steps, walkway, and to put railings around the porch and down the steps. The owner, did not communicate well on when he was going to do the work. The cement was laid for the steps, yet the steps were not even in length on either side. This was brought to his attention, and his crew shaved the wrong step, so the other step was then uneven in length. When laying the walkway, it began raining. The owner and his crew had to return and do the finishing of the cement while holding a tarp above the project, and then leaving the tarp for the cement to cure. Once it cured, many imperfects were noted with the job as well as cement being left on the driveway and on the house by the chimney where they apparently were cleaning off tools and cement was left to dry under the overhand of the chimney. When these things were brought to the attention of the owner, he indicated (on email) that he would take my down payment as payment in full and then part ways. He left the walkway unfinished as there was no dirt around it and he backed out of a contract without starting or finishing the railings. I am highly disappointed in his professionalism and his breach of contract. He came recommended, but I would not use this company for any job.

      I have read the customer review and I understand that the customer is not happy with the work that was done, the email response we provided is below addressing her concerns. Also... 1) The initial quote was for the steps and concrete walkway only for $2200. The customer then added on that she would like railings for the porch and steps to be included, so we added that on to the formal quote. As explained below we offered her a discount and thought that it would be best if we went our separate ways since she is not completely satisfied customer. As a company, I don't understand why, if she is not happy with the original part of the contract, that she would want us to continue on the second part of the project, unless she decided to get the work done and then not pay the balance of the contract and stating that she is unhappy with the project at all. 2) Our contract does not state that we were going to place topsoil around the walkway. The original yard stones that she had around the existing walkway were left for them to place as desired. We did not mention anywhere that we would replace the existing yard stones. (*** Regarding your email of concerns: 1) The color difference is because the steps were poured first and they are thicker. Concrete takes time for the concrete to cure completely, the thicker the concrete the longer the cure process. The colors will match once all the concrete is completely cured and this takes days/weeks to occur. 2) Formed steps will not be exact on all edges, the measurement is within the spec tolerance we need to allow for formed concrete. 3) Clean up has been done for the cement splatter on 9/1. This was never going to be left as it was, all clean up is done at the end of the project. The splatter on the driveway was not seen until it dried because we were caught in the rain. In which I brushed the area so this will eventually wash away and fade. It is not permanent. The bucket dump near the chimney was also cleaned up on 9/1. Once the materials harden it is easier for us to pick up and haul away at the end of the project. The initial quote for the concrete was $2200 without the railings. You paid $1996.23 which was the 1/2 down for the entire project including the railings. Since you are not completely satisfied with the concrete, we will discount your contract to the $1996.23 that you paid and mark your contract paid in full and completed for the concrete only. I sincerely apologize that you are not completely satisfied with the concrete work . At this time I think it is appropriate to part ways on good terms. Please seek other contractors for the railings.) (end of original email) I'm sorry that she is not satisfied with the project or the responses.
