I would like to report a business in Perry, OH. We bought a puppy from her (Roberta K*****) advertised as AKC. "Grand River Poodles"....4349 Oregon St., Perry, OH 44081. The phone number listed is 440-218-0168. The puppy was born on 1-11-2022. I sent my daughter to get the puppy because he was a surprise for my husband. I gave my daughter, $2500.00 in cash. My daughter should have known to get a receipt but I think she was so excited over the puppy that she wasn't thinking clearly. She was also told by Ms K***** that the AKC papers would come in the mail. She didn't file for them yet. Now, remember, this was back in March. We have text after text telling us that the receipt and AKC papers would be here soon but they are not here as yet. A receipt would not be hard to provide - she could just write it on a piece of paper. I have texts from her that she acknowledges receiving the $2500 but no receipt has been sent. When asked, she states that we'll get them when she sends them. She also, after we told her we contacted the AKC ourselves and should have gotten the papers when we got the puppy, she responds with, "I will not be threatened." I have found complaints by others as far back as 2012 and they were all over not getting their AKC papers. Can you please help me with this matter? I have reached out to everyone I can think of. We are no longer interested in the paperwork. We believe the breeder, Ms K*****, has continued to commit fraud against innocent buyers. We think she registers some litters to stay in good standing with AKC but not all litters but she advertises all of them as AKC. If I didn't want an AKC puppy, I would have gone to a rescue shelter and gotten one. I am allergic to dogs so this is one reason I wanted a thoroughbred Toy Poodle and he (the puppy) has worked out well. We love him. Some people also sell pure Toy Poodles without AKC papers for a lot less money, but due to my allergy, I wanted to see if he had a pure bloodline.

Verbal response given to BBB employee (se):

I did not sell the puppy to the people who filed a complaint.  If the person who I sold the puppy to would like to write me a letter stating who they are, time and that we met.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

This matter has not be resolved.  I have included files from emails with AKC Registration, along with emails to the Attorney General of Ohio.  Ms K***** indeed knows who I am and she is playing with words.  She sold the puppy to my daughter, on behalf of me, and in her texts which I have included here, she acknowledges that she will send a receipt for the $2500 cash and AKC papers.  We have had an attorney corresponing with her and she knows my name and my daiughters name.  I would apprecate it if you would look into this mattter for us.   Thank you.

      Regards,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate that.  She has been asked by me and by my daughter, ********* *****, to provide AKC papers since the end of March.  She never complies with that or with the request for a receipt for the $2500 in the cash payment for the puppy.  This has been ongoing.  We only wanted what we paid for - an AKC dog and acknowledgment of receiving the payment.  AKC people have told me that she never registered a litter born on Jan. 11, 2022.  They said she should have registered the litter and given the papers at the time of purchase.

We have text messages she has sent back and forth with ********* and also with me.  The puppy was bought with my money and I sent our daughter after it because the puppy was a surprise Birthday gift for my husband.  Because we are both retired, it was hard for me to call about breeders and go to get a puppy without my husband knowing about my plans.  Either way, Ms. K***** has spoken and heard my name through an attorney we decided to get and she knows who my daughter is.  I believe I sent you the copies of the texts.  The attorney said she has not responded to his messages in a prompt manner and at times, not at all.

I apologize for not getting your call.  I'm a pastor and I needed to conduct a funeral today.  I thank you for your help.  As I believe I told you, I have seen the same complaints regarding no AKC papers dating back to 2012.  I don't want her to do this to others.  If you advertise and get the money asked for a registered dog, it should be registered.  Period.  Otherwise, advertise for Toy Poodles for pets - no papers and get a lot less money.

Thank you for your assistance on a a grossly untrue claim! We indeed placed a lovely AKC toy poodle male puppy in the care of our client. Our sole client stated she is very happy with the puppy we provided and loves him very much. Our client was informed when she obtained the puppy from our home (agreed it to be satisfactory) to accept a delay in receiving the AKC registration. Our client was informed we, the breeder, will mail the AKC papers to the address she provided as it was her home and the location whereas the puppy will reside. As with all the toy poodles we breed, they are AKC. We are not involved with another breed of dog. Every pup we place is AKC eligible! Our client agreed since this rare occasion we do not have the AKC papers in hand to accept them via US Postal Service once we receive them. Our client was satisfied!

We received requests from many organizations regarding someone other than our client claiming to be the owner of the same puppy. Within said request it is written, this individual in her own words “has reached out to everyone she can think of without a resolution in her favor.  to have AKC papers in her name to her address. At which time we found this to be very unusual and lie, thought to be an attempt of a scammer who desired to claim to own our very sought after bloodline.

We confirmed with the AKC during our in home biannual inspection, we are correct to provide only our client such documents. This has always been the breeder and rules set forth by the AKC. This is our first time experience with an unfortunate and unfounded claim from someone else.  Furthermore, we have always been 100% compliant during AKC inspection of our home, of all our Toy Poodles, (our only breed, all which are registered and proven via DNA) Our applications and records will not be provided to unfamiliar parties. The name unfamiliar to us has requested we be banned from the AKC. We have had no contact whatsoever with this individual at any time. We will never offer any documentation other than to our client and the AKC. This includes any grossly and false claims of another! This individual is barking up the wrong tree if they expect us to be threaded in any manner. Our client is satisfied with our communication and that and a happy puppy is all that matters! Our client is satisfied.

      Respectfully signed,

A very well respected and sought after toy poodle breeder of many AKC Champions.
