Early August they came out to spray weed killer in back yard on special grass that kept coming up. Within week the whole backyard yard was dead/brown. Called and they came out and said it was Army worms. They saw only the that whole backyard where they sprayed was dead. It stopped at the fence and gate. Never traveled into neighbors yards who were untreated. They told me to give it 3-4 days and we would see the damage in neighbors. Never happened. Said whole neighborhood had Army worms. No other yards on either block showed damage. They then said to water and it would recover. Watered every day it did not rain and still dead. They came out again and said yes, it has not recovered. Again told them they needed to make it right and reseed. They refused so we cancelled. Had pictures showing damage and had sent to them as well.

      Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2021/10/20) */ BBB Transcription of Mailed Response: TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN MS ****** (OR SOMEONE) CALLED OUR OFFICES ON AUG. 6, 2021 FOR A RESPRAY OF NUTSEDGE IN HER LAWN. WE WENT OUT AUG 7, 2021 TO DO THIS. NO FURTHER CONTACT WAS MADE TO US UNTIL AUGUST 30, 2021 WHEN SOMEONE CALLED TO SAY THE AREA SPRAYED WAS NOT BROWNED OUT. WE CHECKED ON AUG 31, 2021, AS IT HAPPENED TO BE SCHEDULED FOR A REGULAR APPLICATION AND DISCOVERED ARMY WORMS IN SAME AREAS THAT WE HAD TREATED ON 8/7/21. THAT SAME DAY, 90% OF OUR ACCOUNTS WERE LEFT NOTES AS WAS SHE, THAT ARMY WORMS HAD ATTACHED THE LAWN. THIS WAS A ONCE IN A LIFETIME EVENT FOR OUR AREA. THE ARMY MOTHS CAME UP ON A JET STREAM FROM THE SOUTH AND LANDED IN OHIO FROM THE GREAT LAKES TO KENTUCKY. THE WORMS OF THE MOTHS EAT THE BLADE OVERNIGHT AND CAUSE EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE PLANT, HOWEVER IT DOES NOT KILL THE GRASS COMPLETELY. SHE WAS ADVISED TO TREAT WITH AN INSECTICIDE FOR THE ARMY WORMS AND KEEP WATER TO THOSE AREAS FOR A FULL RECOVERY. SHE OPTED TO DO NOTHING ABOUT ARMY WORMS. HERBICIDE DAMAGE CAN OCCUR, BUT WOULD SHOW UP WITH IN 48 HRS OF THE APPLICATION. IF WE DAMAGE ANY LAWNS WE TAKE FULL RESPONSIBIULTY AND MAKE GOOD. NO ONE CALLED TIL 3 WKS LATER TO REPORT BROWNING. WE BELIEVE THE ARMY WORMS ARE THE CULPRIT. NO HERBICIDE DAMAGE WAS DETECTED ONLY ARMY WORM. Consumer Response /* (3000, 11, 2021/10/28) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The yard is still trying to recover from what happened. We had to reseed and it is growing in some places, but not all. We had a 2nd lawn service come out and look at it and was told it was not from army worms and was very distressed. Black Diamond had told us if we kept it watered it would recover as the Army Worms only eat the blades and the roots were still intact. Basically the grass growing is the new seed we had sown. We looked at the security video and the worst part of the lawn was where they started spraying. We feel as long as the hose from the truck is that there was something in the hose and killed it until the stuff in the lines was replaced by the weed killer he used from tank.
