I sold my house at the beginning of this year and was using the funds to buy a new house. The whole house buying process was a massive pain in the a** that actually took about 3 months. The title company, CBUS Title Agency, never once reached out to me to let me know how I was receiving the instructions to wire my money to them for my down payment. Turns out the person I was emailing was actually a scammer who had hacked my info from CBus Title and was impersonating the CBus Title agent, *********************, on my paperwork. I closed on the house, got scammed out of $25,000 and never actually paid my closing costs. CBus Title actually allowed me to close on the house anyway despite not being able to confirm receiving the funds as they assumed they would get them and trusted me. Seriously, that's the reason they gave me.If you're looking to buy or sell a house in Ohio, under no circumstances use CBUS Title Agency. They are easily compromise, never bother contacting people and don't their jobs. ***** even acted like she knew what I was talking about when at closing, I had mentioned something I had said in my email to the scammers thinking it was her and she brushed it off saying it happens all the time.

CBUS Title Agency is very sympathetic to this particular clients situation. We take wire fraud very seriously and have ensured our security system is robust and thorough. Any information we send regarding wire transfers is sent through encrypted email systems with detailed instructions to ensure the involvement of the proper parties. When we were made aware of this clients situation, we did everything in our power to work with him, his bank and his lender to help him address his situation. We also initiated a prompt and thorough audit of our internal systems and all communications with this particular client and were swiftly able to determine that our system was not hacked in any way and that we communicated his correct wiring instructs through our proper protocol. Any insinuation or direct statement indicating this clients info and email was compromised through CBUS Title Agency is absolutely false. Unfortunately for this client, the erroneous wiring instructions he responded to and ultimately wired his money to came from an account that was not linked in any way to CBUS Title Agency. Once again, we deeply sympathize with this clients frustrations and were very happy to help him with his final closing and hope he is enjoying his new home! We remain available to further discuss this matter directly with this client if he so wishes. However, in regards to this clients very unfortunate situation, CBUS Title Agency denies any wrongdoing.

Notice how they didn't comment on how they never contacted me or how they allowed me to close without confirming receipt of my wire transfer. That's ultimately my problem and why I wrote the review.I sincerely appreciate their efforts to get everything sorted out so I could still buy the house with whatever money I had left. While I certainly can't prove they were compromised, its just my logical conclusion since the hackers posed as them and had detailed confidential info such as my closing costs to convince me but I have no proof supporting my accusation, the fact remains that they failed massively in the beginning and played a role in me getting scammed.If ***** or someone else in CBus Title had called or emailed me the week prior or day of closing saying they haven't gotten my wire and haven't had any communication with me, that would have immediately thrown red flags and I could've cancelled the wire. If they had told me at closing they didn't receive my wire, I could have immediately contacted the bank and recall the wire.The most insulting part is that ***** acted like she knew about the email conversation I had with the scammers. On the first attempt at closing, I had asked to see her so I could apologize in person for how painful the wiring process was since I had gone back and forth with the not yet known scammer. She acted like she had been emailing me constantly and told me "Its all fine, it happens all the time" despite the fact that she never actually emailed me once.
