On 3/6/2023 I went to have a noise checked out and was told I needed all new tires, new brakes. They said don’t do two tires then two more after my business trip because it might not be safe. They said they had credit. I applied and paid. I came back from my trip and got an oil change at a different place. They could not fill the tires with air because the valve stem caps were stuck on. They were metal caps- exactly like the ones I had on my old tires that were thrown away by Lewis electronics. I went back to Lewis to see why they put my old caps on and tell them they were stuck. They said $550 to fix, then $250. When I explained again I had never touched the tires they said ‘oh we did it? Ok. Come back after your trip’. I asked if I would need an appointment. They said ‘no sweetie’. I came back from my trip and dropped the car off 6/4/23 with a not saying I had thought about it and I didn’t want them to bore out and replace valve stems- I wanted to have the new tires I paid for so could they replace them. On 6/7 I still hadn’t heard anything. When I called a mechanic said they never would have used my old caps and I must have somehow gotten the caps off of the old tires (that were thrown away) and done it myself. Then he said I told him a friend put the caps on for me. Completely false. The conversation never happened. I am from out of state and know two women as friends and they definitely weren’t doing anything to my tires. I want my money refunded. They can have the tires back. I’m a single parent and can’t afford almost $2k on repaired tires that will be susceptible to leaking down the road because this company does not want to stand by their work.Business response

we sold and installed tires to ***** *******. she picked up car and everything was fine. She decided to buy valve stem covers from amazon that were better looking according to her. She had her friend install these valve stem covers for her on her car. later she went to put air in her tires and learned that the new valve stem covers she bought from amazon and had her friend install would not come off. The reason they will not come off is they are the wrong thread and they we forced on by her friend. She brought car back to us for help. we tried to remove caps but hey will not come off. We have informed her that in order to remove caps she will need new valve stems and there will be a charge. She said she is a single parent and has no money. Then she started changing her story and accused us of installing these wrong fitting valve stem caps. She is very nasty and dishonest. She behaves as if lying and bulling are viable resolution processes. WE owe her nothing. we have treated her fairly, with dignity respect and honesty. We will not be bullied. We will not work for free. We will not fix things that we did not break. There is nothing more to say in this matter.
Thankyou

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Hi there. Please see my rejection email per your request. My words are in bold and in response to the company.picked up car and everything was fine. She decided to buy valve stem covers from amazon that were better looking according to her. She had her friend install these valve stem covers for her on her car. They know this is 100% untrue. I told the tech I had a friend tell me that no caps on the valve stems can cause dirt to clog them and wanted to know why they took my old crappy valve stem caps off of the old tires that they threw away and had me drive away with those caps on the NEW tires. I only bought them and put them on the old tires because I knew they were at the end of their life and did not care about how they looked or ask them to collect them and re install them, later she went to put air in her tires and learned that the new valve stem covers she bought from amazon and had her friend install would not come off.I went to get an oil change and they told me there were metal caps on the tires. I had never even noticed because I do not care what my tires look like. I immediately knew when he said metal caps that they must have put on the old ones. I drove straight back to the tire place to ask them to take them off since I did not want to break anything and get all dirty. The reason they will not come off is they are the wrong thread and they we forced on by her friend. They know this is a lie and it is really just sad and hurtful. I told them I just moved to Ohio and I only have one person who I hang out with - a 50 year old woman who certainly was not putting anything on my tires. I told them I put the caps on my old tires with my 8 year old at an elementary school before his basketball game and I repeated that when they came up with this friend story. She brought car back to us for help. we tried to remove caps but hey will not come off. Also not true. The oil change place was able to get two off. They claimed all 4 were stuck and that they tried all kinds of things - even lubricant to remove them. There was no sign that anything had been done and the caps on the ones that the oil change place had said were loose were now screwed all the way to the back of the valve stem.We have informed her that in order to remove caps she will need new valve stems and there will be a charge. They did and I said why would I pay again when I just bought new tires and did not touch them. They said - Oh, we did this?I said yesThey said come back after my trip, no appointment needed. The cost they quoted was $500 something, then $250, then $185. then $0. They were just making things up and did not even know what to do to fix them.I dropped the car off and heard nothing for four days. I had to uber all over town ($$$)Then they called and again said $250 and the valve stems would need to be replaced.I went to a different tire shop and they said there are a few scenarios:If the sensor is screwed to the valve stem it could be MUCH less expensive because they just unscrew it an no need to replace the sensor. The shop that originally put the tires on would know if that was the case because they would have to interact with that particular part of the tire during install. The other shop removed one valve stem to see if that was the case - sure enough it was. He said could fix it for $115 - all four tires - He said it would take an hour, nowhere near 4 days.I want my money back - they can have the tires. They wanted to scam me and keep charging me for things to take advantage of me and should not be running a business that way. I purposefully went there to support a local business - Never again and I will tell everyone in Shaker Heights about this because I went from the place across the street saying I needed zero repairs to needing all new brakes, all new tires, then an immediate tire repair? Come on.She said she is a single parent and has no money. Then she started changing her story and accused us of installing these wrong fitting valve stem caps.Flat out lie and so unfortunate. I said I was a single parent and did not want to be taken advantage of - true. That was when they called and started telling me the made up story about a friend I had who was supposedly doing things to my car.I don't have time in my life to make up lies and to then spend time following up on them. The story they are telling is so far outside of what I actually said. Maybe the mechanic is trying to cover up for the bad choice he made, I don't know. I am not taking an $1800 hit because they put on bad caps. Why would I put cheap amazon caps on a brand new pair of tires that came with brand new plastic caps? I have zero reason to do that. And how would I have gotten the old caps out of their trash where they threw away the old tires? How does that even make sense? She is very nasty and dishonest. She behaves as if lying and bulling are viable resolution processes. WE owe her nothing. we have treated her fairly, with dignity respect and honesty. We will not be bullied. We will not work for free. We will not fix things that we did not break. There is nothing more to say in this matter.Best Regards,***** *******
