We hired her in October 2021 to decorate our wedding and coordinate the day of our wedding (11/5/22). I’ve met with her a total of (2-3) times, with no issue. She never had a showroom to show me her decor and linen items, but she had multiple pictures to show me every time I asked a question. I received an email on 5/14/22 requesting I pay the remaining amount of our deposit that wasn’t due until the day of our wedding. I didn’t pay it. On 5/18/22 announcing the closing of Preferred Rentals and Planning. The email states needing to find a way to pay the deposits back, but when that solution is found the deposits will be paid back in order of the wedding date. I expressed concern to the situation and offered support and understanding. A follow up email came on 5/19/22, stating “Currently we are looking into selling this business in the hopes that we can honor your contracts. As of now, that does seem to be our first choice. We do understand if that is not the option that you would like to take. With that being said, if you are set on wanting a refund in this instant we suggest to make a claim through the municipal court to lower your stress with this situation.” I made multiple attempts to purchase decor items in lieu of receiving a refund, with no response. It has been radio silence since 5/24/2022. I received an email from the Ohio Secretary of States office stating that she had filed a dissolution of her business and it was accepted. I’m out $625 (our deposit amount), the business has no intentions of providing us with a refund.Initial Complaint

Owner of business was hired to provide decor and day of wedding coordination services for our wedding 5/10/2023. Business owner emailed and said that she was closing the business and was not able to provide services or a refund for deposit that was already placed. On 2/14/2022 I placed a deposit of $230.50 for the decoration rentals and on 4/6/2022 I placed a deposit of $375.00 for day of coordination services. In the contract it states that if the business cancel for any reason, they would provide a refund of the deposits. The owner is breaching contract by not giving refund of the deposit and we are now without $625.50 that could be going toward finding another company to provide decoration and day of coordination services.
