Was charged twice for NSF fees when payment should have came from checking account not savings, where the fees are from. All of my bills are paid through my checking account at IHCU. Have had my account for years.

      Dear ******** *

      Marketplace Services Coordinator

This is a written response to the BBB Complaint ID: ********

      Complaint Filed: 5/11/2024

Our customer complained about being charged NSF fees when paying his credit card bill.
Our response: Our clerk contacted the customer 5/13/2024 and explained to him that when he set up
his automatic payment, he set up the payment to come from his savings account. He did not have
sufficient funds to cover his payment, so he was charged NSF fees. She advised him that to avoid future
fees, he would need to set the automatic payment up to be paid from his checking account. At this time,
she also refunded all of his fees. After reviewing his account, it seems that he did make the correction
on the automatic payment and he has not incurred any more fees.

      Sincerely,
      ******* ******

      Dear ******** ************

      Marketplace Services Coordinator

This is a written response to the BBB Complaint ID: ******** (********)

Addressing the complaint regarding the issue of disability forms for insurance to pay on said loan in question.

4/18/18 Complainant's Aunt (first borrower on loan) spoke with a clerk at the IH Credit Union. The Aunt wanted to file a disability claim on the loan that the Complainant is co maker on. An email was sent to the Aunt requesting her date of disability. Once the credit union received this information a claim would be filed.

4/26/18 a clerk at the credit union followed up with the Collection Supervisor regarding disability forms that were dropped off. The date of disability was missing on the forms. The clerk called the Aunt. A voice mail message was left regarding this missing information on the direction of the Collection Supervisor.

5/31/18 a clerk at the credit union received the disability forms in the night drop box. It was noticed the forms were not signed by the doctor. The forms were then mailed back to the Aunt.

7/16/18 a clerk at the credit union called the insurance company to check on the status of the disability claim. The clerk was told no insurance forms had been received. On 7/10/18 the insurance company sent the Aunt a notice requesting the Attending Physicians Statement be completed.

7/31/18 the insurance company sent another notice to Aunt to complete the Attending Physicians Statement.

8/13/18 the credit union received a check from the insurance company for coverage from 3/16/18 to 3/26/18. The claim was then terminated because the Aunt returned to work.

The Aunt did file bankruptcy. The Complainant did not file. Therefore the loan in question becomes the sole responsibility of the Complainant (co maker). The loan was delinquent. It was charged off and sent to a third party for collection on 3/29/19. On 1/27/22 the credit union received an email from the third party who is now collecting this debt on behalf of the credit union. The Complainant inquired on whether the credit union would accept a settlement offer to settle this debt in full. The credit union declined the settlement offer as it was far below the payoff balance of the loan. It is not normal practice to accept settlement offers for less than the full payoff on the loan.

3/11/22 the credit union received and signed an Affidavit from our third party to proceed with Legal Action against the Complainant.

      Sincerely,

      **** ******

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: that was only one medical claim the rest of the medical claims never got sent therefore was never submitted my aunt was off of work for pretty much the end of 2018 going into 2019 which is the reason why she filed bankruptcy because she was off of work ill she went off of work the weekend of Thanksgiving in 2018. So only one claim was done the rest were ignored and again they've done this to another black couple where they did not do a claim on their car they repossessed it and sold it and I have that couples information and I'm more than happy to submit that information so they are very well known of doing this. I don't believe that they have never taken less than the full amount on a settlement offer they're lying because **** is not a fond of people of color based on discussions that my aunt has had with her. I'm pregnant not working not going back to work anytime soon my family is helping me with a lump sum to settle this debt that is why I'm trying to do the right thing I offered an amount that the balance was at the time of the delinquency to me that is fair and I'm trying to do the right thing as I said I have no income to attach I have no home to attach I have nothing of value to attach.

      Sincerely,

      **** ******
