******** **** gave me a contract bid to complete work on my house. The original bid was $30,000 and he asked for half to get materials, $15000, on March 31st. I have since found out from other contractors he should have only asked for max 10% per current state guidelines. Regardless, he said he'd start completing some of the minor work (interior painting and installing bathroom vanity tops) until we got HOA and township approval for more regulated work. He bought an architect up and asked for another $2000 to pay the architect. He removed my stairway handrail to paint (never reinstalled nor painted), had an inexperienced painter paint a bathroom (painted my woodwork and never painted a patched spot, installed vanities incompletely (all had to be redone), busted a pipe snaking for hair, left the ceiling where he fixed the pipe open and hung a mirror in the wrong spot and never fixed after 5 requests. Further, I found out after talkin to the architect that he never gave the $2000 to the architect either. He also only hired inexperienced people to work on my house who had drug and alcohol problems. He stopped calling me back in July though he accidentally butt dialed my a couple of weeks ago. Further, he constantly lied about why he wasn't showing up to complete work day after day until I found out that he was lying to me from the other customer whom he was scamming too. Also, I am getting other bids to complete the roof work. I have found out that work he stated he completed in 2018 for which he charged me $2500 was a lie to and never completed. I want all of my money back, $19500, as soon as possible and ******** should be banned from ever opening another business in Ohio! I am also aware of many more cases of people he is ripping off and I will ask them to report him too. As I am starting legal proceedings if not resolved, the BBB can contact me directly for support.

Forgive me for the delay in response.  I have been going through a health crisis with my mother and trying to hold down other aspects of my life.  I see where ******** **** has responded with his evidence as to why only $9000 should be refunded from my money.  At least he is admitting he took money without completing work. However, I will break down his response with detailed rebuttals by point regarding how ridiculous contractually and factually inaccurate the responses are.  My responses for each point will be underlined.  They will be my support for the full $19500.

********* response changed to bullet form with my response in italics:
this is ******** with Halls roofing and Home improvements I want to resolve the issue with Miss riddle I understand there is a money she is concerned about I'm willing to give back $9,000 of her money but there's two sides of both of these stories:
Point 1 -  will you repair the roof on the right side of the house putting new ridge cap new ridge vent stop the leak then the chimney started leaking that has nothing to do with our side - I had a new roofer come out when the same area leaked. He looked at the roof work done by Marshall. He also pointed out several issues with the repair job with parts that were missing. He repaired the area again and we have had no worries since.

Point 2 -  we painted what we were supposed to in the inside of her home where you set toilet vanities - ******** had a painter who he would drop off in the morning and who worked all day on a bathroom with limited walls due to shower stall paneling, wood doors, cabinets and fixtures. It should have been a quick paint job that took 1 day or 2 at the most.  The "professional" painter took 2 to 3 weeks on 1 bathroom in which he missed spots, used the wrong paint colors, never sanded some areas that MY SON had patched before he started and lastly, painted over my beautiful stained wood headers and he never got the paint off even when we requested (I have pictures).

Point 3 - The leak was inside the light fixture coming from the upstairs bathroom and I reviewed the contract and none of that work was on contract we did that to help her out yes  - ******** is correct about this not being in the contract. And as he stated in the last part of this unpunctuated sentence, "we did this to help her out yes". He heard me fussing with my husband about hair in my daughter's shower drain. He'd offered to do this work and other minor issues like hooking up the plumbing in the downstairs bathroom for free if I would sign the contract. ******** then attempted to "quickly" remove the hair from the drain t with some manual tool which he said would take minutes . But HE accidentally punctured something which caused a leak near the light fixture not in the light fixture.  He then opened a big hole in the ceiling floor below downstairs which he had to do to repair the leak he caused.  He left the hole and never fixed that (I have pictures).

Point 4 - I hired architect I paid him $100 - ******** came to my house the next day after I signed the contract and got a check for $2000 which he said he had to take that day to pay an architect to draw up plans.  I have the cleared check copy with the likes of  "for architect" in the memo field (I have pictures).  He said he was going to take the check to the architect and never did.  He just cashed it.  I have talked to the architect and can provide his contact number as well as for evidence.

Point 5 - I did a job for her daughter which was still a balance of almost $9,000 that was never paid to me which Miss riddle is part of the group to manage that property so I am willing to give her $9,000 back to resolve this issue thank you - He did sign a contract with my daughter to do lots of work on a separate property in another county. She was going to use ******** as the principal contractor to do work for her flipped properties. She gave him a business contract that was very detailed regarding work to be completed and timeframes for work to be completed within.  He failed to meet any timeframes and was behind by 2.5 months.  The delay was for labor and not materials that sight on site. We had legal counsel that helped us with providing him official warnings and then notice of termination of his contract.  Every step of the process was clearly tracked and documented. ******** should not even have mentioned this here because that opens a whole new door. He not only was late but all the work was clearly inferior for any company stating it was licensed.  EVERYTHING and I do mean EVERYthing that he did had to be completely redone by rehired licensed contractors. The only part of the work he completed that we had hoped to salvage failed final inspection.  Even with that work we had to hire someone else to fix it!  We have all documentation, witness support, failed inspection report and legal documents. His work added so much additional cost to that property flip due to excessive wasted time and expense to redo all of the work he provided! We both even have support that the wasted time had nothing to do with his contractors to whom he subs out jobs, but his own personal issues. Many of his issues had to do with child care, divorce disputes, his own personal car issues, etc.  It is all spelled out in excuse texts to my daughter and me.

I am looking for my full $19500. I'm really mad too because some of this money was given by my 85 year old mother to make a patio sanctuary for her.   If you need further support, my daughter and I have every text message from Marshall, pictures and witness testimony, etc.    Please let me know.
