On 02/16/2024, this home was purchased from the seller (DNS Restoration). Not even 30 days after purchasing the home, the basement starts to flood. A plumber was called (*** ******* to come and inspect the source of the flood and the problem was improper plumbing installed by the seller. No permits were obtained by the seller, no inspections were obtained by the seller, and now the plumber has to complete $50,000 worth of work due to lack of vent stack, improper plumbing pipes installed, illegal S-traps installed under every sink, and Y-pipes used for shower drains. The work from Mr. Rooter has begun on 03/20/2024 and still has yet to be complete due to the extensiveness of the repairs.Customer response

To whom it may concern;
*** ****** stated that the cause of the flooding was due to our improper plumbing but as we understand,it was caused by a collapsed clay sewer pipe outside the house. To our knowledge even if it was inspected we would only have had to install new plumbing above basement ground level. We have since gained more knowledge and in the future will get all our work inspected.
Also M** ****** claims there are no vent stacks which is not the case. We installed vent stacks that vent into the eaves as we put on a new roof and in our opinion a roof always starts leaking around the pipe boots first .
As far as the other stuff mentioned, the drains and toilet were used consistently for 4 months and we never had any issues with traps or shower drains. We never had any bad smells coming from sinks. I did the plumbing in my own home and have lived there for 4 years and never had any problems.
All that being said, we are very sorry that this happened. We never want to sell someone a house that is not fully functioning, however this does not seem to be an issue that is related to any work we did. Like mentioned before we are still gaining knowledge. We were under the impression since we were the property owners we did not need to have a permit or inspection we will always get a licensed plumber in the future.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********* and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
The work on my house has still yet to be completed. The plumbing is awaiting final inspection, there are numerous places in my home where drywall was opened up that we are awaiting quotes to have fixed up. I feel as if nothing was entirely accomplished based off the review. As my 4 year old just had surgery, I will provide pictures as I go to this portal for more information and references about the current state of the house.
