      Business response

      12/06/2021

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/11/17) */ The individual in question was told by my office manager that an exam would be required before any ultrasound procedure could be performed. My manager told the individual that it was up to the doctor to determine if an ultrasound was needed and when it would occur if deemed necessary. My manager did not say that the ultrasound would be performed that day. This conversation was overheard by my other receptionist. The individual came in for an appointment as a new client, not a referral from her previous veterinarian. I took extra time to go over her dog's history and found that the history was lacking from a past visit to ****** Toledo. The dog was stable, had a normal exam except for a thin body condition score, and was very happy. I was very busy that day, seeing appointments every 15 minutes, had performed an emergency rear leg amputation on a cat during my lunch time and had another emergency surgery scheduled for 6:00 pm that evening. I discussed with the owner that due to the past blood work and the missing history, that I would need to repeat some of the blood work, should take abdominal radiographs and do an ultrasound. The owner asked if her dog was getting her ultrasound today. I said no- not today but.... and then the individual went into a rage and stomped out of my office without paying her bill. I was going to tell her that I would fit her dog in on Wednesday (in 2 days). I was unable to tell her that due to her abrupt departure. Her dog was clinically stable and there were multiple appointments and surgeries already scheduled for the day and it was physically impossible for me to do the ultrasound that day. I was not aware that the individual "only" wanted the ultrasound. This does not fit with the standard of practice. All new clients must have an exam and then the animal's history is gone over and then procedures are scheduled. No individual can just schedule an appointment for a procedure. This individual said that she was told that her dog could get the ultrasound at the time of the appointment. This is completely inaccurate. Sincerely, ****************, DVM Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2021/11/18) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) They are lying and I guess she wants to say the receptionist was her manager OK the manager if that's who I spoke to knows I was coming over there for an ultrasound she knew that she kept saying well it's got to be an examination to I said I have no problem with that she also stated that she is not saying the doctor would not do the ultrasound I said OK cause that's why I'm coming over they led me to believe that they were going to do the ultrasound that's why I went there they knew that's all I wanted so they are lying that's OK they can have their money but they are lying and I want everybody to know that they lie to get you there because med vet had a request for an ultrasound they seen that they knew it was just an ultrasound they knew that they're lying though keep that in the record
