      We hired ****** *****, who is doing business as Baran’s Fence and Decks to install privacy fencing, split rail fencing and a deck. We paid a deposit for materials and then final payment for the fence when it was completed. For the deck we paid a deposit for materials. There were delays on starting the deck which he gave various excuses for, as well as delays in working on it once started. Then each time he came and did any work on it he'd request payment. We would give him partial payment. The last time he was here was 12/9/21. He almost finished the deck but did not complete it. He insisted on final payment and said he would be back the week of 12/13 to finish it. We paid him the last $500 and he wrote a receipt stating he would return to finish it the week of 12/13. He has never returned and has stopped responding to us and blocked us on social media. The privacy fence he installed is falling because he used short nails instead of the longer screws that would standardly be used. Before he stopped responding I contacted him about that and he said he would fix that when he came to finish the deck. He has never returned to do what he said he would do. So, we paid him in total over $8,000 and the fence needs fixed and the deck is incomplete and the ramp he installed on the deck is too steep and shorter than we requested. The wood used on the deck is substandard and is splitting and cracking. He sawed partially through one of the deck posts and one of the floor boards is sticking up about an inch on one end. We would like at least a partial refund so that we can get someone else to fix the fence and fix/finish the deck and ramp.

      Signed on contract with the owner of this individual business on 1/31/22, with a $2,600.00 cash deposit, for materials for a split-rail fence to be installed at our home. The work was to start on 2/1/22. However, to date 4/3/22, no materials have been purchased, no work has been started and no refund has been made, even though a request for a refund was made on 3/11/22 and again on 3/31/22. There is no intention from the company to refund us. From the beginning it was excuse after excuse as to why the work could not be started - sick, truck broke down, mother died (his mother did not die, she is alive), on another job - even though he would tell us in the evening, he would be over in the AM, come mid-day, when we would question where he was, he would tell us he was stuck on another job. Neven mentioned the job the night prior, and promised to be at our home in the morning. This was over and over - he would never contact us, we would have to contact him first asking when he was coming, and all we would get was an excuse, and a promise on when he would come. From the time we gave him the money, has not not stepped foot on our property once. He also did not ever order the material as we contacted the company he buys his supplies and they never had an order under our name, or for the stuff we needed during the time period of 1/31/22 to the present date (4/3/22). I posted a review on his company website; however, after my review (there were already a few bad reviews within 4 weeks of mine, he removed his website and it can no longer be accessed. We do have a signed receipt as well as a sketch of our property and the materials that would be needed - along with a total estimate and estimate of the materials that our deposit was supposed to used to purchase.
