We signed a lease for a rental house with BNW on 1/18/24. My fiance and cousin picked up keys on 1/19 around ****am while I was at work. They went to clean before moving in and were hit with an overwhelming smell of mold upon unlocking the doors. That smell was not present when we viewed the house 2 weeks ago. Upon further investigation they heard the toilet running and found water leaking in the basement from pipes in the ceiling. They also discovered mold in all of the windowsills. Given that my fianc and I both have severe mold allergies and all three of us have asthma I contacted BNW immediately to notify them of this health hazard. I reached out to them at 130pm and was told I needed to speak to the tenant mgr-was transferred to voicemail, I left a detailed msg about what was going on, that I was at work and if I didn't answer to please call one of the other leasees. She called back about 10 min later which I missed. I called back 2 min later and got voicemail, called back to BNW left a message, called again 10 min later and was redirected back to her voicemail. I did leave another message and never heard back. Their office closed at 5pm and was closed through the weekend. We went out and purchased in home mold tests from *********** took mold/air quality samples and sent them in for analysis. We also took photos. On Mon 1/22 I reached out to BNW again to talk to the tenant mgr. She was extremely rude on the phone, told me that their 'guy' only got the keys 24 hours before we did and that he did not smell or see anything. She said the soonest anyone could come address the issue would be 1/26. I explained our health issues and how we couldn't stay. She said we were not getting our money back. I mentioned a lawyer her response was, "ma'am, ma'am let me stop you right there, this conversation is over, you have a good day" and hung up on me. We returned the keys immediately. On 1/23 they reposted the house for rent on their website.
