We went with this roofing company knowing they cost more than others solely because of the warranty they offered. This warranty would be voided if another contractor did any work on our roof. We had a hail storm and we called erie immediately after the storm( the storm was on Memorial Day 2024) they sent a field technician and he looked at the roof and when asked if it would be covered he said yes, and a gentleman named ****** would call and set appointment to get measurements. After a week I called the field technician because I hadnt heard from ******. A couple days later I was contacted and an appointment was made. ****** never showed up and my calls and texts to him were unanswered. As the time went by I think it was 4 weeks of silence from ******, I needed to get my roof on a roofers schedule due to the damage and afraid of a roof leak, I signed a contract with another contractor, knowing this would void the warranty with erie. What I am asking for help with is recouping the value of warranty from ****, since they put me in a position that left me no choice but to use another contractor.

We needed emergency repairs/ replacement of the flat roof above the garage shortly after buying the house. **** quoted us $8000 just for the garage roof, which was ridiculous to start with. They took advantage of us needing the repairs quickly before we left to my daughters Army Graduation. This was in September 2023.The new roof was started on by 2 men, half through the day, one of them left, leaving the other behind to finish the work. And i felt so bad because he couldn't understand English very well. But we did provide pizza and water for him. The other man returned after 9pm to pick up the other man who had been sitting in the yard waiting for over 2 hours. We left 2 days after the new roof was put on, we were gone only 5 days, we returned to it storming and water pouring from the ceiling of the garage again. We called and they sent the same 2 guys out. To repair that leak.We were told we were getting gutter guards, but we didnt. And the drip **** did not cover the wood at all.April 2024, 7 months later another leak, same spot. So we called, got no response, we texted, no response, so I left a comment on their ******** ad about getting free gutter guards explaining about the continuing issues and not getting those free gutter guards. To which they messaged me back about the issues. Same time we also emailed the superiors of the project manager who was not contacting us.The project manager ******************* calls finally and was irritated that we contacted his bosses. He comes out a couple days later and says he will have someone out next day and that the drip **** was supposed to look like that.2 weeks go by and not one phone call or person showed up. So we contacted the superiors yet again to which the regional manager ********************* called. He sent the same guys out, and had the proper drip edge put on and the gutter guards that wasn't put on 7 months prior. We requested a refund and have been ignored and now theres a new leak in a new spot.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

When *************** and I had texted about the situation I had mentioned that I would've liked to be home when any repairs were made.

A couple of days later *********************** showed up when I was at work. Thankfully, my family was home at the time so he could do the work. He did repair the roof as he saw fit.

As of this time we're in a drought so it hasn't rained at all and can't see if the repairs have, in fact, been effective.

But regardless, they did have someone out quickly to remedy the situation.

This business installed a new roof on my home in Jan 2023 with a 50 year garentee and not been responsive to my requests for assistance with leaks. I have two leaks in my roof that I reported to both local representatives of Erie and the office in Ohio. My estimate would be 15 calls with no help from the company. I went into my attic for the first time since the roof installation and my exhaust fan for the attic has been covered up and so no fan to remove 100 plus degree air. This company simply does not respond to requests for help from customers. Please help.

My main issue is that I personally had to complete/fix the work since the contractor was unable to fix the issue after multiple visits. The entire process from start to finish was a headache and will not have Erie Homes return for any future projects. Second and Third install teams were very nice even though the quality of work was not.Date of purchase: 09/15/2023 Gutter install team didn't notify they were showing up.10/18/2023: Installed the wrong size gutters, didn't install gutter guards, and there were numerous installation issues.Second install team showed up to fix installation issues and install gutter guards.06/10/2024: Had issues with water overflowing the gutters and getting between gutter and house.06/18/2024: Third install team came out, noted that second team installed the wrong gutter guards. They also didn't bring the correct guards, had to reschedule.06/21/2024: Third team came out a second time and replaced the gutter guards.07/08/2024: Still had issues with water getting between gutter and house. After personal inspection I noted to the builder that they did not use any back screws on the guards so they are just falling into the gutters.Third team came out a third time, attempted to fix the installation of the guards but had difficulty due to the poor installation of the gutters themselves. Preceded to state that Erie doesn't normally install the back screws and stated that if there are any more water problems that silicone will be used to fix it.I spent the next couple of days removing and installing the gutter guards myself, per installation instructions, since it seems Erie contractors are unable to. Erie is already 2x-5x more expensive than most, to then also have to do the work yourself is unacceptable.

On July 18, 2024 I payed for a roof replacement after following an advertisement stating it could be done in less than a day. *** ****, the installation manager, spoke to me on the phone then to schedule the work and summarize the process. Apart of the process he explained was laying down tarps to protect the property and maintain safety. The installation began July 29, 2024. No tarps were used, debris including roofing nails were cast around the perimeter of the house. The roof was not completed within the day and most of my homes perimeter was left unclean, I personally stepped on a roofing nail. I tried to call and address this, no one answered the several numbers I tried. Their customer service line closed at 1630. the workers left at 1830 and said we'll be back tomorrow. The following day I called the installation manager,*** ****, and office administrator, ******* *****, and was told in so many ways that one day installation was never really a guarantee and there is nothing they could do about the worker's unsafe practices except try to make sure it didn't happen in the future. They made no effort to correct the situation and even told me they were currently cleaning it when I could see they were not. I paid quite a lot of money to not get what I was told I was going to get.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: per the contract, 100% cleanup was paid for. I spent hours after the workers left cleaning up after them. Had the house been wrapped in tarps, as the installation manager said was a part of properly preparing the house, which was also in the contract, it would have been significantly better. To keep saying it was an active construction site when no one was actively working on it overnight to excuse leaving my home in a dangerous state. Even OSHA requires cleaning while working and maintaining as safe a work area as possible. Additionally, the erie home web site still advertises same day installs and 8-hour installs. Erie Home is dishonest and charged me for services they did not provide. Then to be told by their own employees I was foolish for trusting their words. This is unacceptable. Erie employees said they failed on multiple points and that this should never happen then offer no recompense. You can't change what's already happened, I just want a refund for the services I was promised and did not get and for erie home to stop falsely advertising same day installs.

      Sincerely,

I paid almost 35,000 to have my roof replaced. While they were working on the roof, water came into my house. Water continued to come into my house once the finished work. They came back once and found a huge mistake their crew had made and corrected it. This spring, water is coming into my house again. I've contacted them twice this year and they've done nothing to the roof. They spray water in my gutters. The haven't looked on the roof for other mistakes their installers made. The wood floor in my dining room now needs to be refinished from all the water damage, and the new ceiling I had replaced, thinking they had fixed the problem, got wet and smells like mold. I have video recordings of the water coming in.

5/1 /24 contract #1 with Erie. Included "Prep roof for low-slope application." Too vague - sales rep had walked that low slope roof and said it needed new decking. I cancelled the contract in the three day limit via telegram. The cost was $230. for a legal document telegram. Following day, a new Erie rep came and wrote a new contract including, " Remove old decking and replace with new decking." Seemed accurate. Signed the new contract. 5/15 materials arrived. Included 14 sheets 4x8 OSB for new decking. Seemed like too much - that roof was 10' x 20' It was 2 times the OSB needed. 5/16 they worked roof. Completion - foreman came for second check. I asked for a credit - 14 sheets of OSB that they did not use and for a pickup of extra materials. He said he could do nothing. 5/17 ***** ****** came. I asked for credit - 14 sheets of OSB that were not used. He said that some people take them to Lowe's for a refund. I said that I do not need OSB, I am 80 years old, I have no truck, and I would like to have the credit of $750.00. He said they do not do credits. Seeing no option, I asked ***** to get them out of my driveway. There was no inspection. On 5/19/2024, I went to the attic to check the work. The boards they had cut down to 1X3's were splintered by the 1 1/2 inch nails they had used. It is also a hazardous place to be because they used 1 1/2 nails when they should have used 1 1/4 as called for in the Louisville roofing code. The work was very wrong, very sloppy, and is very dangerous. I sent pictures to ***** ****** and asked for a return call. I received no call. I sent two certified letters; I received no response. I hand delivered copies of those two letters. ***** was not in; a co-worker accepted them. They breached the contract and did very poor work on the ridge vent - that needs to be redone. I am asking $8,000.00 - breach of contract and $2.000.00 to repair the ridge vent.

I had a roof installed by Erie Home back in January, 2024. I was impressed with the quality of the product and the warranty that was provided, so I was willing to pay the premium over the average roofing contractor to make sure I had a roof that lasted. The crew did not speak english, and the manager, who did speak english, never once spoke with me and was only around for a short time. The team got the roof done all in one day, but at the cost of working well into the night when it was completely dark. Next day, the project manager came out and we found broken siding and a detached gutter from the work they did. I was told that it had to wait until it warmed up outside to get it fixed. Makes sense, materials can be brittle in the cold. Here is the problem though. once it did warm up, after a few messages back and forth with that project manager, with a contract for the fixes in hand, he ghosted me and I was left to contact their customer support. Customer support made it out to the house in June to fix the siding, which was covering up the hole created, and the gutter. At that time I also noticed a few spots, well into the summer and 90 degree weather that not all of the shingles were laying flat, so I asked to get that fixed as well, since there are 2 spots where you can easily reach underneath the shingles. Its going on 3 weeks now and getting the run around again of them struggling to get someone out to fix the job that was done over 7 months ago at the time of writing this. I payed over 60k for the roof expecting high quality as promised by the sales reps, but I found that once the job was done, they aren't prioritizing making the issues right.

In May 2024, my elderly cousins ****** and ******* ********* had the roof on their home 1,050
square foot home replaced by Erie Home. I am filing a complaint on behalf of my cousins because
family, friends and neighbors believe that they were scammed by Erie Home. Below is information
      related to the complaint.
      1. In May 2024, my elderly cousins ****** and ******* ********* had the simple A-line roof on
their home 1,050 sq. ft home replaced by Erie Home. I am filing a complaint on behalf of my
cousins because our family believes that they were scammed by Erie. Below is information
      related to the complaint.
      2. Erie claims that the labor and material to replace the roof totaled $36,000, which is an
u**onscionable amount based on the size of their home, the simple roof type, the time the
work crew spent replacing the roof (one day), and estimates obtained from local roofing
      contractors.
      3. Erie claims that they first installed a metal roof and placed shingles over the metal roof, which
is not recommended by roofing experts. Moreover, based on information from a nearby
neighbor who watched the contractors as they were replacing the roof, we do not believe
Erie's claim. The neighbor also questions whether the contractors even installed a roof liner.
      4. Erie had 22 extra plyboards left over after the roof replacement. Although Erie took the
plyboards, they charged the cost of the extra plyboards to my cousins.
      5. Erie initially failed to provide an itemized statement of the work completed.
      6. Erie damaged the roof framing on the front side of the home.
      7. After learning that my cousins had been scammed, I contacted the corporate office of Erie
Home, posing as a potential customer. I was told that the **********, ***** ******** location
handles jobs in ************, ********; however, the corporate rep refused to give me the
number of the **********, ** office. The rep also stated that he was unable to provide the
VA contractor license number because Erie has 150 locations across the country. I then
searched on the internet to find the contact information for the ********** office. When I
      2
called the ********** office, the customer service representative stated that he could not give
me the license over the phone and that if I scheduled an appointment with Erie Home, the
representative would bring the contractor license information. I explained that I preferred to
have the license information prior to scheduling the appointment to determine if Erie Home
was in good standing and/or if any complaints had been filed against the company. The
representative became rude, stating that he was busy and if I wasn’t going to schedule an
appointment, he had other things to do and he didn’t have time to waste talking to me. The
Erie Home representative then hung up on me.
      8. Erie Home presented a fina**ing option to my cousins that i**luded an interest rate of 12%
over 15 years. This fina**ing option would require a monthly payment of $400 and result in
total amount of $72,000 over the 15-year period of $72,000, consisting of interest payments
      of $38,112.
      9. Before I learned that my cousins had been scammed by Erie Home, they consulted with
Truliant Federal Credit Union, located at 2504 Battleground Avenue, **********, North
Carolina, to see if they could fina**e the bala**e at a lower rate. **** ****, a Truliant mortgage
loan officer, reached out to Erie Home regarding the cost of the roof. When Ms. **** initially
requested an itemized statement of the scope of the work, i**luding the specific material and
labor hours, the Erie Home representative hung up on her.
      10. Erie Home also refused to answer calls from my cousins ****** and ******* *********.
      11. Because of our co**erns that Erie Home may be preying on, taking advantage of and
potentially scamming other elderly individuals, we request that the BBB take immediate action
to put a stop to Erie Home’s unethical business practices. We also request BBB’s assista**e in
settling the complaint that I am filing on behalf of my cousins.

Erie Home response indicated that the company was negotiating a settlement amount with me. However, I have made repeated attempts to contact Erie Home and they have not returned my calls. Erie Home still has not provided the detailed statement of work that I requested. Moreover, I have read numerous similar online complaints against Erie Home. One article stated that Erie Home pressured an 82-year old woman in Georgia into signing a contract to replace her roof for $98,000. In one post, a person claiming to be a former Erie employee stated that the company targets the elderly and you can make quick, easy money working for Erie Home by pressuring people to enter into significantly overpriced roof replacement contracts.

Buyers beware of Erie Home. Initially, the sales team member stayed in our home for over 3 hours, he left and came back 3-4 times desperate for a sale, this is a money hungry company that will start with an insane quote to only try to make you feel better when they cut 30% by the end of their time with you. They are so very proud of their BBB rating, but should focus on the scamming they are attempting with their customers. When attempting to cancel, I was told I owed $7,800. When we signed up with Erie home, we were told we would only lose our down payment, again a scam and a lie. After reviewing the contract signed, I would only owe 15% of the purchase price, or just under $4,000. This is another example of this company trying to scam money from people, instead of being honest. When talking with other companies, without naming Erie Home, we explained we were initially quoted $40,000+ and by the end of their 3 hour visit our quote was $26,000, this company immediately guessed Erie Home being the culprit. This tells me, we are not the first.
