I went into Replay of Toledo on July 9th, 2022 to purchase a Gameboy Advance video game called Pokemon LeafGreen for $90, not an insignificant amount of money. Replay of Toledo claims to test all of their games before putting them up for sale, and after inspecting the cartridge to ensure it was an authentic copy, I purchased the game from them. Not even 20 minutes later after getting home, I tested the game in three different DS systems, and it did not work, it was completely broken. Not a big deal, stuff can get through the cracks I understand that. However, when I returned to the store to get a refund, I was refused a refund and forced to take store credit, despite having just purchased the game from them not even 30 minutes prior. This suggests to me that Replay of Toledo frequently knowingly puts expensive games that do not work onto their shelves, claims they are in working condition, and forces customers into situations where they are then required to spend their money with Replay. There is absolutely no reason I should be refused a refund when they lied to my face, and then forced me to pick something else so that they get to keep my money and I have to pick some random game that I don't even want just so that my money doesn't go to waste. This should be illegal. I'm willing to bet they have done this to many many other customers. Knowingly selling broken goods while misrepresenting them as working and then denying refunds in order to force customers into keeping their money with the business is unethical at best and downright criminal as far as I'm concerned.
