Macks Repair Service was hired to replace our chimney cap. ******************* notified me that not only the chimney cap needed replaced but that the entire chimney mortar needed to be re-pointed. Work was performed on May 31, 2023 at the cost of $1,400. On July 27, 2023, I notified owner ******************* by text message that the repairs to the chimney cap had failed and several cracks had occurred. He replied via text message that he would take care of the problem. On Wednesday August 16 I texted pictures to his phone after not hearing from him. On Wednesday September 27, 2023 ***** sent his father and another worker to make repairs. However his father discovered that the cap was not attached to the chimney and that the 2 flue tiles were deteriorated and needed replaced too. *****'s father also said that they used the wrong mortar formula and should have incorporated some pea gravel in a large replacement with a sealer on the mortar. He immediately called his son ***** to inform him of his findings and he had them leave and I was to be informed at a later date when they would make replacement.October 2nd after 12 ******************* called me that they were coming that afternoon to do the replacement. However with such short notice I wasn't unavailable and asked him to pick another date. Since then numerous calls and texts to ***** as to when he was coming to make repairs. Most of his replies were that he was too busy. He continued to ignore my calls and texts. Several times he said he was completing a job and would be out after completion. One of which he texted me back and said he was close around noon but I never heard from him and I had to make contact again myself. Four months after being notified of the problem and I think in all that time he would have been able to find/schedule a few hours of time to make the repairs if he was so concerned. Now we are at a point in the season where the weather is a factor and it may not be possible to make the replacement satisfactorily.Business response
