They were not honest about the cost of a roof replacement. I was assured my insurance check would cover the total cost, then received a large bill later

      Business response

      11/11/2022

This project has been ongoing for the last year, when Mr. ****** first contracted with us USAA was only allowing for repairs on his roof. Our operations manager fought tooth and nail for months to get this overturned in the homeowner favor and he eventually got it overturned in February and the roof was installed In April. During install the crew hit an AC line that was running on the under section of the roof surface. This was a one in a million shot of shooing a nail into the line set however we took care of the cost of repairs in the amount of 1368.00 which was reflected on the final invoice. This incident was not the act of negligence and was unavoidable as the line set was impossible to be see. However at the end of the day MVR took care of the additional expenses for that cost.

I Give you that background to explain why we are here now 7 months later and Mr. ****** is making false accusations. The total insurance claim on the property was $25,712.35, the interior portion of the claim was $1,067.99 and the AC unit was $1368.00. Prior to completing the work the homeowner agreed to an upgraded shingle in the amount of 1500.00. All of this is clearly explained on the final invoice that was issued to Mr. ******. In addition I personally sent 2 separate emails that and attempted to contact Mr. ****** myself with no answer and no response back either by phone call or email/ Please see attached documents for emails sent to Mr. ****** and the dates and time.

To confirm that USAA has received the documents we sent in and issued payment based on our final invoice we reached out to USAA directly and they confirmed with us that total payment in the amount of $24,712.35 which is exactly $1000.00 short which is the deductible. This solidifies that the total claim amount matches our final invoice. Please see attached email from USAA for confirmation of this.

All we are trying to do is collect the final balance from the homeowner and every time our operations manager reaches out to him he tells him you told me there would be a 3rd check and I haven't received a 3rd check. The only reason a 3rd check would have been issued because prior to the claim being fully approved the insurance would have issued a payment, then once the roof was fully covered they would have issued the ACV portion of the claim and once we completed the work they would have issued the depreciation. However, we sent in the work of completing to recover the depreciation before the ACV amount was received so they issued the payment to include the depreciation therefore only 2 payments were issued to the homeowner. This is irrelevant though as the homeowner has received the full amount from USAA in the amount of $24,712.35 so weather or not we said 3 payments would come or not Mr. ****** still received payment in full on his claim.
