I was in the inpatient detox ******** Unit - Room *** - Bed *) at Beckett Springs from August 17th - Aug 28th 2023. During my stay $500 of my personal belongings were lost/stolen. The duffel bag that contained my property was supposed to be stored underneath my bed, however that locker was welded shut. So, where my belongings were actually put is a mystery. On the day of my departure, Vernia P**** came to speak with me about some other issues. Then, the staff realized my bag was gone. Vernia came up with the excuse that my bag had been put into a room with belongings from previous patients who hadn't come back to retrieve their items. She said that room was cleaned out. So, everything (including my bag) in that room had been thrown away. Vernia asked me for a list of missing items. I did the best I could at the time. *note: that I was still not in best mental state at the time, and my memory was not very good. After arriving home, and as I went to use daily items I normally would, I realized more items were missing. So, each time this happened I sent an email to Vernia with the item and the cost. Eventually, she told me via email that she did not believe me, since I could not remember everything the day I left. And would only be sending me a check for $350 and that the case was officially closed. She said I would receive the check in the near future. Vernia refuses to take my phone calls. She uses the staff in the business office to screen her calls. She also refuses to answer any email. I gave Vernia a deadline of last Saturday the 29th via her email, to have my check in my mailbox, or I would be reporting the theft to the **** ******* Police and filing a complaint with the **** Attorney General. I have done both. She is the Patient Advocate, and she acknowledged at the meeting we had the day I left that the loss of personal belongings was her responsibility. So, I have no choice but to file the complaint against her.Initial Complaint

Entered 5-28-23. They Beckett Springs ask for money on 5-30-23. They need to change their policy on letting patients know how much they owe.
