    On June 1 2020 I signed a contract here and then on June 14th I was injured in an accident. I needed surgery and I couldn't walk on my own for the next 5 months. I still require additional surgeries that will take months of rehabilitation where working out isn't possible. They continued to charge me and I tried to get them to cancel; they refused saying I signed the contract for a year, so July first it should stop. I attempted to workout once or twice but my body couldn't handle it. I was resigned to just lose the money. Then I saw another charge July 1 and their story changed, apparently now I signed an 18-month contract and it won't stop drawing out of my account. The only way they would work with me is if they just transfered my membership to someone I know. My wife is on the account and they asked why she didn't use the membership since she is able bodied. I'm not sure who they thought was taking care of me this entire time? When I got upset by this I was told "it's just business", I have seen tons of gyms in the past help people who were hurt or couldn't go due to illness. I'm so glad this town has somewhere the people actually matter like ***** ********

    ***** this is Kory F**** of Xtreme Fitness. I remember our conversation. In your contract, it clearly states it was for 18 months. I make it a point to ensure this is clear for all our members upon sign up, and I told you this again when you called last year. I offered to bend the rules because of your situation and allow you two options, to either transfer to someone else or temporarily suspend your membership while you recovered. As with any other business, when a contract is signed, you must fulfill your end. What separates us from our competition is the ability to work with individuals, we do not have to do this, we want to!

    Kory, everything I stated was true. You are right you did offer to suspend it for 6 months, but OBVIOUSLY that was not going to be long enough. Then last year when you told me that it was an 18 month contract you DID NOT tell more that I had to come in and stop the bank draft. Instead you lead me to believe that it after the contract ended it would stop billing us. So it continued to bill us for 2 extra months. You are right though you do not have to do anything for the people that sign a contract with you but you think you would have the decency to help them if they actually need it. Other gyms or fitness centers in town have already said that how my family was treated was wrong and you should be ashamed. I grew up in this town and I would have never thought that a family owned gym could have such a lack of town pride or not want a good personal relationship with the people of the small town. I am absolutely astonished that you don't think you did anything wrong and that this is just business as usual. I really hope ypu broaden your horizons and find that just because you can ***** people over with a contract doesn't mean you should.

    Also be aware that ALL of your competitors said since I was injured LESS than 2 week after signing the contract, you could have torn it up since you do not turn it in until the 24th...that's what you told me anyways. Also you said that you could suspend mine for 6 month but my wife would still have to pay half because she was capable of coming in...I couldn't even bathe myself for 3 months, plus we have 2 small children, so please explain how my wife had time to come in? We were only dollars signs and numbers to you and now we know that...
