8 AUG 2023 - I was quoted $25,900 for a new standing seam metal roof and gutters for my house 1 SEP 2023 - I paid a $10,000 deposit to AK Roofing and Construction for the materials. The rest was to be paid after completion of the job. 26 Sep 2023 - work commenced on my property. 1 OCT 2023 - two employees knocked on my door to notify me that they weren't coming back to the job, because they felt that they weren't getting treated fairly by their employers.4 OCT 2023 - There was storm. The roofers neglected to tarp my roof, and water damaged my ceiling. AK Roofing offered to paint the spots, but I insisted that I wanted the all of the ceilings in my house to be painted, because I wanted them to all be the same color. AK Roofing insisted that I pay them $300 to cover all of the ceilings.9 OCT 2023 - I contacted AK Roofing to let them know that I was concerned about the amount of trash, including sharp metal shavings that was left in my property, as well as in my neighbor's property. 11 OCT 2023 - owner of AK roofing tells me that he checked the quality of the work done by the subcontractor, and assured me that it was good. 16 OCT 2023 - I am told that the subcontractor has finally, after 3 weeks, finished his part of the job. Later this day, the subcontractor called me to tell me that he didn't do the job correctly. AK Roofing assured me that he was a disgruntled employee, and to ignore him. A second subcontractor called me, and came to my house to show me pictures of how poorly of a job they had done.18 OCT 2023 - I agree to allow AK Roofing to make things right. They promise to send me their "best in-house metal guy" to fix my roof. 15 NOV 2023- the best in house metal guy "finishes" my roof, and the owner of AK Roofing says that its ready for inspection.A more in-depth complaint with a time line and screen shots of my conversations with AK Roofing is attached. As is the results of two inspection reports, pictures, and an estimate for repairs.Business response

This roof has been installed for a length of time now with no leaks or damage to the property.
We have been in contact with **************** over this matter multiple times in the recent past and our lawyers are in works on this. We have been advised to not comment any further about the situation.
We hope we can get this resolved in a respectful manner.

I am rejecting this response because: nothing was resolved. My roof was installed improperly; many fasteners are installed over plastic wrap, none of the vents are properly installed, many panels are cut to the incorrectly length, improper fasteners were used, and many of the panels are gouged, which makes them susceptible to corrosion. Furthermore, the weren't cut properly, and every single edge is jagged, and butyl tape is visible, and many z flashes aren't cut to the proper length.Customer response

I would also like to share that *********************, the owner of AK Roofing & Construction actually did acknowledge that the work was done poorly. He filed an insurance claim against the company that he subcontracted the job out to. The claim was denied, because the subcontractor is not insured in the *****************. I am also adding two addition estimates of what it would cost to fix my roof. As it stands, I am unable to sell my house because of the condition of my roof. If I want to sell it, I will need to replace the roof again. ************** is right, that its not *currently* leaking- I attribute that to the fact that there is underlayment installed, but that doesn't mean that the roof is installed correctly. In its current condition, it is susceptible to corrosion, rust, and water entry because of the plastic wrap that wasn't removed when the fasteners were installed. I'm also prone to wind damage, because it wasn't properly sealed. ************** seems very eager to reference his lawyer; he actually texted me and let me know that his lawyer believes that I actually owe him money for the remaining balance of the roof, which which Is insane. I'm inclined to believe that he doesn't have any legal representation, because if he really did believe that, I'm sure he come after me for the remaining $17,000 that he claims his lawyer says that I owe him.Customer response

This is a copy of a text message I sent to ***** on October 5th, detailing my concerns about how the job had been going up to that point.
The crew he sent literally neglected to tarp *******.
I was concerned about mold growing in my ceiling.
Customer response

This is *****'s response to my concern.
He acknowledges the shortcomings of the crew, and assures me that his employee, *****, would be there to fix things...
The problem is that ***** was unable to fix the issues that the previous crew created.
I believe that ***** tried his best, but he knew the roof was beyond repair. They just weren't expecting someone to call me and tell me that it wasn't done properly.
