      Had a medical bill reported to collections that had not yet undergone adjustment by the insurance company. BCBS noted that they had requested more information / documentation from the billers, however, got no response. Instead of getting this information, billing team turned bull to collections. I have attempted to contact the billing office no less than 15 times at this point with no call back. The one time that a representative has answered the phone, was told that I would get a call back by end of day but instead got nothing.

      Due to the medical nature of this complaint, we can't provide detailed information pertaining to this account. However, Mr. *****'s insurance did request medical records on this account in September of 2021. The medical records were submitted to BCBS on 09/09/2021 and we received confirmation from BCBS that they were received. BCBS denied the claim in it's entirety in February 2022. We filed an appeal with BCBS on 02/09/2022. BCBS responded on 04/21/2022 and applied the visit towards the patients deductible. We sent 7 statements to Mr. ***** from 05/2022-11/2022. On 11/30/2022, the decision was made to turn the patient to collections and the account was turned on 12/07/2022. We never received a call or correspondence from Mr. ***** regarding this account until October 2023. Mr. ***** explained that medical records were requested from BCBS and that they were never received. I explained that this was not the case and that they confirmed receipt and adjudicated the claim after appeal. He then stated that BCBS said a signature was needed, but couldn't tell me why a signature was needed. All he stated was that his insurance should have paid in full. I informed him that we would try to reach out to BCBS and see what could find out because a signature is never needed because everything is filed electronically or printed on paper. We did reach out to BCBS and were informed that a signature was not needed and that the claim did go towards the patient’s deductible. I do not reflect that we were able to get back in touch with Mr. ***** to relay this information. There is nothing more we can do at this time. Mr. ***** has had since 05/2022 to reach out to us regarding this account and to speak to the collection agency as well and we heard nothing from him until October 2023. We have offered to set up a payment plan and to work with Mr. ***** in any way possible, but there is nothing more we can do with BCBS to change the outcome of this claim. I am more than happy to provide Mr. ***** with a copy of the claim submitted to BCBS, copies of the EOB's we received from BCBS, copies of the 7 statements that were sent to him prior to collections.
