RED DIRT EF5 put in storm shelter above ground for us. My complaint is: Bottom door lock on above ground door wont lock. It is way off center & cant use it. Business wont answer my calls or tell us who put it in, in this area they hired. We just want lock fixed by storm people. I have receipt dated 11/21/2021 & 11/21/2022, we pd on the 19th. We just need lock fixed; its guaranteed for 10 *********** Choctaw Tribe in ******************* shelter assisted us in getting it. We will pay to get it fixed if we need too. Just want storm people to help us with their hired shelter people. All we want please is lock fixed. Please help us. We purchased an above ground tornado shelter from EF 5 just last year. On 02/26/2023 I was going to open it up and air it out in case we needed it that evening since there was a good chance of severe storms and winds in excess of 100 miles per hour. I could not however get the 800 lb door to open and noticed the hinges were already rusted. The door was tilted so the flashing above the door would not allow it to open. I immediately reached out to EF5 by phone and via email and only rec'd a terse response from *****. He gave no apology or call to simply say they would stand behind their product and take care of it. In order to get into our $6,500.00 shelter, I had to use a sledgehammer to bend the metal flashing which was the only remedy available. We expected EF 5 to call us on Monday after our place was hit by a tornado but again no response, so I sent another email. Some older guy did briefly show up late last week and did not speak a word to me. I am sure he didn't know what to do but again a complete lack of communication. I didn't expect to be his best friend but thought he might understand why we were upset. My wife is really irate, and she did leave a ***** message. The owner did call and apologize stating his company doesn't operate that way! Unfortunately, that isn't factual. I will provide each response from ***** which basically shows he could care less if our shelter worked or not. In fact, when I called him today (03/07 @ 2:25 PM) he hung up on me after I asked the owner's name (****) to call me. ***** sad he was trying to help us by setting up the repair ticket and they were going to call me sometime today. I advised him that we should have been on the schedule as priority, but it appears our request is not important enough. More storms are expected this week and we still have a defective shelter. Since this is a defective shelter, we would like a new unit to replace it. I will upload pictures after I scan them into this computer.Customer response

Good morning. After filing this complaint, the company sent out a repairman (****) with extensive knowledge about this unit. He did repair the door temporarily and promised they would seal it and repaint the unit when it moved to the permanent location. **** has the proper temperament and was also empathic to our situation since the tornado did hit our property. He was going to notify **** and get a commitment that he be allowed to finish the job. If that is agreeable with ****, then we will withdraw our complaint and also request no contact from his office manager (*****) who is very rude and was not willing to help us out.

The business did respond and resolved the complaint. A mutual resolution was reached.
