The Verizon store in ****** took despicable advantage of my being forced to replace my existing ******* flip phone when Verizon informed me that I had to replace it owing to a compelled upgrade to "4G" technology that I never requested and did not want. For several years prior I had used a plan with talk/text only and had no use for internet on a phone, nor do I now nor will I ever. I object vehemently to 'smart phones' in every detail and have seen them cause far more harm than good for years by way of addictive behavior and excessive dependency and will never consent to own one. When I explained my situation and my requirements to Verizon's storefront racket in ******, I made it clear that my ******* was still in perfect working order and had cost very little, and needed an equivalent model to replace it owing to Verizon's forcible upgrade which was of no benefit to me. Verizon's hustlers in ****** told me all they had was an ******* flip phone and sold it to me for over $200, which is at least six to eight times its actual value. The phone was complete junk, gave me problems from the first day, its menus and overall design were far inferior to my *******, and it eventually fell apart in my hands and was useless, leaving me with no phone at all. This was fraud, and I was forced into the situation by Verizon's compulsory "upgrade" when I had a good phone to begin with. I require a refund of the full two hundred dollars and a formal apology from the Verizon highway-robbery store in ****** to be made public in ******** news outlets so that other unsuspecting customers will be forewarned of these practices, which in my long experience is absolutely typical of the Verizon approach to customer service company-wide: deceit, cynical and indifferent runarounds, and open dishonesty as everyday policy, taking full advantage vulnerable customers while pretending to be helping them, and blaming customers for ********************** system failures and bad-faith business practices.
