It was a water heater repair service call. I had a broken heating element in my water heater. The plumber said I should replace both just to make sure it will work ok. It was $500 for one and $950. I asked for the price of the parts and he said he did not know. I agreed to the work but decided to look up the parts online. I found both heating elements sold as a pair for $35. I went out to talk to the plumber he had already took the part out and drained the water heater. I felt at that point it was too late to cancel the job. I called the owner of the company ********************* about my problem with the cost and all he did was make sarcastic smart remarks. He finally told me the parts were $37.11 each for the heating elements and the service call was $65. That means they charged me over $700 in labor for one hour. I called the manufacturer and gave them the serial number and they said the parts were under warranty. ********************* refused to file a warranty claim through the parts department because he did not like the review I gave him online.Business response

Tiptons Plumbing and Sewer always gives upfront pricing. We get an authorization signature before we start,and when finished. We performed all of the work and also giveth client a military discount. The client ********** called immediately after the job was complete, he cursed/used foul language while explaining his problem,was very rude multiple times during the conversation. I explained We are a flat rate company and give all pricing upfront before we do anywork,same way we have done business for years.

I am rejecting this response because: I never cursed on the phone and in fact the only thing I said that was even remotely hostile was to repeatedly tell the owner to stop with the sarcastic smart remarks because I don't think they are funny. He made no effort to resolve the issue. The upfront price quoted and the deceptive wording of the plumbers description implied that the parts were expensive. It took me 15 mins to find the cost of the part and at that time the plumber had removed the old parts and installed the new ones and he was draining the water heater. I would have canceled the job if he was not already finished in 15 mins. It clearly states on the business' Yelp page that "Satisfaction in Guaranteed". I was not satisfied and made that clear and his response was to try to make fun of me on the phone. After contacting the manufacturer of the water heater I found that all parts are under warrantee and if the owner would fill out the warranty information the parts are free. He refused because I posted a negative review. He also refused to refund the "service fee" of $65 for the same reason. The service fee is supposed to be refunded if you decide to do the work, / but because he was mad he decided to be unprofessional and not honor his claim to guarantee satisfaction. At this point I am only willing to pay the $65 service fee. The parts are free (covered by warranty) and the service took 15 mins. It was such a bad experience and because satisfaction is guaranteed I am not willing to do anything else. The business owner also repeatedly lies about me cursing at him and does not acknowledge any of his childish behavior over the phone including saying negative comments about my police and military service. This whole situation is ridiculous. Any business owner should know that acting in this manner is not a good way to treat any customer.
