I guess we were scammed. We went into an agreement to purchase a puppy from this breeder in ******** after trying to either purchase one here locally in ** or from back home in Ohio. Apparently, there are not many breeders for West Highland terriers any more and the prices are way more than when we purchased our first one. I guess the old saying holds true: "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!" We were to receive the 11 week old puppy "Rose" to be shipped to us by a professional pet shipper to our airport for the cost of $650 for Rose and $150 for the shipping. I was a bit skeptical so I asked for references and spoke to 3 people who claimed to receive puppies without difficulty. I also said we would only give half the money up front and pay the balance when we had her in our hands. They agreed to that and I have it in writing on email. We paid them $400 on Zelle 10/31/21, and she was supposed to be here on Monday. All the paperwork had been filled out, but the shipment status kept saying "processing". We were just getting ready to leave for the airport, when we received a message from the shipper that the puppy required a special crate that would require $1000 deposit and when we picked her up, we would be refunded $950. Why was a special crate needed? That's when I said NOPE! We do not have that kind of money and even if we did we would not do that. We have no reason to believe what you're saying and if that's true, we will gladly pay the $50 rental, and that's all. We have told **** we want our $400 back. He asked for our Zelle information, but we have received no money. We have given him deadlines and nothing. His wife has threatened us by saying she is a lawyer and we are leaving the puppy in the airport unattended and all the ownership papers have been transferred to us and we are responsible. I told her fine, then send her to me. I will gladly pay you the other $400 when I have her in my arms, but nothing more!
