      We used Malarkey shingles to repair our roof in 2011. We now have major granule loss on the shingles. We reached out to the roofer who did the new roof and they told us this was a known issue with this product and we had to reach out to the manufacturer. When I called to get information on how to start a claim, I was given an email. When they sent me the email on April 12, 2024 with the proper paperwork it stated "A Malarkey Roofing Products technical rep will contact you directly to arrange an inspection if necessary . . . The duties of the inspector are to gather information only and not to make any determinations or comments on his findings". We sent in the required amount of photographs but it is every shingle that is damaged and shows loss. We received a response from Malarkey dated April 29, 2024 stating that our photos show "moderate granule loss exhibited on some of the shingles of your house". We believed the photos were to show that an inspector needed to come to the house. It is horrible business practice to not visually inspect damage for a warranty claim in person by an authorized representative. The prorated amount was determined with 207 months left on the warranty of 307 months and was only $971.75. They rated our roof at 40% loss. We are submitting a claim to appeal but we felt this also deserves a complaint here as photos do not do the damage justice.

      ** ATTORNEY GENERAL HAS HELPED ME GET IN TOUCH WITH MALARKEY ******* *** IN REGARDS TO MY 30YR. ROOF SHINGLES THAT ARE ONLY 12YRS OLD AND HAVE LOST A MASSIVE AMOUNT OF PEBBLES SHOWING THE *** UNDERNEATH. THE LAST INSPECTOR THAT MALARKEY SENT SLID DOWN MY ROOF ON PURPOSE LAUGHING AND COMMENTING THAT'S THE ONLY WAY TO GET DOWN, MY ROOF NOW LOOKS EVEN WORSE... TO DATE I HAVE BEEN OFFERED $1500 BY CLAIMS MGR ***********************, I ALSO REQUESTED 100LBS OF REPLACEMENT PEBBLES FOR MY COLOR OF SHINGLES, HE REFUSED SAYING THEY ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE... I REPLIED THAT I CANNOT ACCEPT THIS OFFER BECAUSE IT WILL NOT GET MY ROOF REPAIRED... I AM NOW REQUESTING THAT MALARKEY REPLACE MY ROOF SHINGLES WHICH WILL COST OVER $5000. I AM A VETERAN LIVING ON SOCIAL SECURITY AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO AFFORD SHINGLE REPLACEMENT. THESE SHINGLES MUST HAVE BEEN A BAD RUN OR SOMETHING TO HAVE DRIED OUT SO BAD AND LOST SO MUCH OF THE PEBBLE MEDIA.

      We did receive a complaint from **************** and offered the maximum amount per the terms of the warranty. **************** rejected the offer, and told our warranty claims manager that the inspector slid down his roof and caused more damage. It should be noted that our inspector did slid 2 - 3 feet and it was not intentional. Our inspector made light of the issue so the homeowner would not worry. **************** requested $1500 plus 100 pounds granules to broadcast on the shingles. Our claims manager offered him the $1500 plus the granules. We no longer manufacture the color on the roof, or we would have offered shingles. It appears **************** has now rejected the offer of the $1500 plus granules. We will discuss this internally *** get back with the homeowner.

      I am rejecting this response because:

      It was intentional that he slid down my roof he even said so " Its the only way to get down he said laughing and it was at least 6feet...  the claims manager did not offer me the granules in fact he said ^ let me be clear we will not be sending a 100lbs of granules...and the color is no longer available...I have all the texts...  I am now requesting a full roof shingles replacement of 30yr architectural shingles in light tan or similar color.   TY,  **** ******

      You are correct, the claims manager did correct me. I thought from the information that he did offer the granules, but he did not. He did increase the offer to $1500 to take into account the damage, which was higher than required by the warranty coverage. We never try to make materials that do not perform and regret the issues Mr. ************* has experienced. Although the offers have been above what is called out in the warranty, another offer will be made out side BBB **** **r claims manager.
