CDR Electronics sold a defective product to my teenage son and refused to refund the entire purchase price when he returned the defective item to the store. My son purchased a PlayStation PS4 on August 28, 2022 for $260. Within minutes of setting up the console, he realized it did not work as advertised/sold/purchased - it froze, the sound delayed, it spontaneously turned off, it repeatedly warned of systematic refresh. The gaming system did not work as designed or expected! My son attempted to return the defective product accompanied by all packaging and his purchase receipt for a full refund on August 31, 2022. He was told that he could exchange the defective item for other presumably defective items in the amount of his original purchase or accept less than the full purchase price ($160). CDR Electronics refused to receive the item back into its stock without first testing the item. It turned on, but was not played or used. Rather than trade the defective device for other presumably defective items, my son accepted a fraction of what he paid. Company policy discouraging full returns for whimsical purchases is understandable. Selling faulty merchandise is unacceptable. Refusing to provide a full refund on the purchase of faulty merchandise is unacceptable. Luring children into a store under the guise of fully-operational items only to bait and switch their expectations with worthless junk is unacceptable. Customers expect their purchases are as advertised - in good working order. What customer buys worthless junk with the misplaced hope of exchanging it for other presumably worthless junk? Responsible and respectable businesses understand that defective items may be unwittingly sold - and they refund the full purchase price of those defective items. CDR Electronics knowingly sold a defective product and refused to refund the entire purchase price. CDR Electronics owes its patrons truth in advertising and quality merchandise OR a full refund on the junk sold.
