June 26th, 2023. ***************************** filed an illegal mechanics lien against my mother's home after bullying her and not completing all services that were initially requested. My mother requested estimates for all services that she wanted completed and finally 5 days after he began services he provided an estimate. On July 3rd, ******* sprayed for bagworms and was paid $95 and we requested quotes for the remaining work. Whatever he sprayed did nothing to the bagworms and they destroyed all evergreens. 1st estimate finally arrived: $95 spray of exterior and bagworms. $100 to remove 3 small trees and set them at the curb. $100 to clean out the flower bed. $150 remove dead shrubs. $100 troubleshoot and repair 2 shower valves. $545 total. $95 was paid by check and the showers were repaired by a plumber, not *******. A total of $350 remaining for the rest of the yard work. On August 3rd, ******* sent three underage young men to work unsupervised. They worked part of the day without proper tools and had to borrow tools from us. When we checked on them, they would get to work. They broke two sprinkler heads, the small number of shrubs they pulled were not bagged and were left strung across the yard. Broke a stepping stone. Left a rock exposed leaving a trip/fall obstacle for my mother. Did not level the flowerbed they cleared. Pulled metal landscape trim and left partially out of the ground. Never completed the job. ******* sent a quote, increased the quote to $675, sent an invoice for $643.99 for the job that was never completed, and then said he would settle for $543.99 and demanded payment by 3 p.m. or he would file a lien. ******* never returned my text or calls after this to resolve. He bullied my mother expecting nobody else to communicate with and then filed a fraudulent "mechanics lien" in ******** County

      Business response

      10/31/2023

Hi! This is ******* ***************************, owner and operator of This and That Handyman Services. Per this complaint received, I have never met *******************, who is assumed to be the son of *******************, the customer who I engaged in business with. Yes, I did spray insecticide on *********************** evergreens that are in her backyard for bagworm control. All evergreens were infested with said pests, and I informed her that the best possible solution would be to cut away the evergreens. But we could try spraying them first to see if it helps. After the first spray I never received a written or verbal response from *******************, so it was best assumed that the insecticide was doing its job. Yes, she paid me the agreed price of $95.00 via personal check.Per the landscaping job which is their main grief, initially she wanted the flowerbed directly in front of her front door to be cleaned out. And I did initially give her an estimate of $150.00 to perform the work. But then she requested that all her trees in the front of her home be pulled out of the ground and sat at the curb for bulk trash pickup, in addition to the large evergreens parallel to her driveway, and an overgrown evergreen next to her gate be trimmed back. At that point I informed her the estimate would have to be adjusted accordingly. I sent her a formal estimate(see "estimate #2") with the addition of extra tasks along with the projected cost. Per our conversation via text message, she responded with something along the lines of " that's a bit high but it has to be done."Also, she informed me that she found someone to repair her seized shower valve.
