******************** gave me a tennis elbow strap on Sept. 20, 2021 as part of my treatment for tennis elbow. I asked him upfront for the cost of the device - he wouldn't tell me. I also asked if the device was covered by ********** neither he nor his assistant would provide any info. I expressed concern about receiving a **** for a ridiculously overpriced medical device - and unfortunately, that's exactly what happened. (I receive Social Security Disability and a large, unexpected **** can be difficult for me to pay). I received a **** on 10/22/21 from a company called DJO for $50 for an elbow strap - which is little more than a velcro strap with a buckle. ( I later found out, through my own research, that ******** doesn't cover the cost of an elbow strap.) ************ DJO, sells the exact same device on Amazon for $20. Medical device companies regularly **** patients/insurance companies for devices that are priced 300% to 400% over retail. Patients are not given the price ahead of time nor are they informed whether or not their insurance will cover the cost - even though physicians have this info. I received a 7 page DJO "patient agreement" via email (dated 9/20/21) that I supposedly signed "electronically" during my appointment. I was asked for my signature during my appointment but this document does not resemble the document that I signed. This is the first time that I have ever seen this 7 page "patient agreement". (I didn't discover that this document was even in my email until Oct. 28, 2021 as I knew nothing of its existence). It was never shown to me during my appointment nor was I informed that I would receive such document via email. Orthopedic Associates took my "electronic signature" and placed it on this 7 page document without my knowledge or understanding of what it was being used for. ******************** intentionally deceived me as to the cost of the elbow strap so he could earn a few extra bucks from DJO. They should be required to pay DJO the $50.

      Customer response

      11/15/2021

Yes.  Orthopedic Associates called me on Nov. 3, 2021.  They told me they cancelled the $50 **** from DJO.  The matter has been resolved.

      Thanks.
