Six months of runaround trying to get a refund on payments my school district took out of my paycheck for a cancelled policy. They raised the premium in September, the DO didn't adjust my deduction (it was off by a dollar and change) so they cancelled me in November. HOWEVER, I was not notified until FEBRUARY! The inept DO tried to reinstate the policy by continuing payments, but AF didn't reinstate it, just kept the $$$. Working with my union and superintendent now, since I've learned I'm not the only teacher this has happened to... AF's representative was very friendly and understanding, but there's been no resolution after dozens of emails, phone calls and meetings... it's been half the year and I'm out hundreds of dollars.

I am cancelling my policies as soon as I can. I have the hospital indemnity plan and my son has to have his appendix removed. He went into the ** on the 16 was admitted on the morning of the 17th and released on the 18th. I provided tons of documentation for them but was denied because according to them he wasn't in the hospital longer than 18 hours. Apparently their employees need basic math classes to figure out how many hours are in a day and apply that to threw day?! Either they can't do math or they are a scam company.

My mom and step-father paid into their life insurance policy for approximately 40 years. Both policies were $25,000.00 each. My step dad passed away in 2022 and my mom received his life insurance amount. However, my mom was diagnosed with onset dementia, which all of her financial needs were directed through a non-profit rep-payee organization. Apparently, American Fidelity sent a bill to my mom's address rather than sending it to the rep-payee, saying the she missed a payment. Due to this letter not getting to the rep-payee, mom's life insurance was cancelled. It is sad how American Fidelity took advantage of my mom's situation and created a "loop-hole" or a mishandling of communication to not have to pay out the $25,000.00 they owe. I have heard this happen to others as well.

We are committed to providing quality insurance products and ******** care to our valued insureds.Healthcare Flexible Spending Accounts (Healthcare FSA) are subject to very specific Internal Revenue Code (IRC) regulations. The general rule for Healthcare FSA is that when amounts elected for one plan year are not used for expenses incurred before the end of that plan year, then any amounts remaining are forfeited. There is an exception, however, that allows employers to structure their plan to allow a carryover of a certain amount of funds remaining at the end of a plan year to and account in the next plan year. Your employer Basset USD included this provision in its plan. You enrolled in the Healthcare FSA for the plan year from 7/1/16 to 6/30/17. At the end of that plan year, you had $225 remaining which was carried over to the next plan year. It appears you used $210.38 of the carryover the following plan year. It does not appear your employer notified us that you terminated employment, which would terminate your participation in the Healthcare FSA and result in forfeiture of any remaining balance. Therefore, the small remaining balance continued to carryover, and you continued to be notified of a balance. We discovered this issue on 7/1/24 when you called to let us know you were no longer employed by Basset USD. We have since verified with your employer that you terminated in September of 2017. Therefore, your account will be terminated as of the date of your termination, and you will no longer receive notices. As your employment terminated in 2017, your remaining balance of $14.62 will be forfeited and returned to the employers plan in accordance with the IRC.If you wish to discuss your account again, please contact our ******** Service Department at ************.

We are committed to providing quality insurance products and ******** care to our valued insureds.Healthcare Flexible Spending Accounts (Healthcare FSA) are subject to very specific Internal Revenue Code (***) regulations. Reimbursements from Healthcare FSAs may not be made unless documentation from an independent third party proving an eligible medical expense is received by the claims recordkeeper (in this case American Fidelity). To be an eligible expense, the expense must be within the applicable plan year, for a covered individual, and must be for a medical expense as defined by the **** Even when using a Healthcare FSA debit card to pay an expense, documentation proving an eligible medical expense must be provided after the card swipe except under specific exceptions. The *** rules require that if the proper documentation is not received, the Healthcare FSA debit card be deactivated. Accordingly, our procedures are simply following *** requirements. I am looking into suing American Fidelity. I have spent over 20 hours on the phone with them the past two months. My bank account is over drawn as they owe me over ***** dollars and they have been lying to me for months, telling me it is being escalated. Here I am 3 months later and nothing. If I could give them a zero, I would. I am taking this to my union and school board; one of the largest districts in the country, to urge them to stop using American Fidelity. I am appalled at lack of knowledge and the fact that no one seems to know what is going on. Every time I am promised a check is sent or it is being directly deposited, I am then told something different the next day and I am forced to wait another 5 to 7 business days. I am a single mom of 3 young children and use the company for dependent care, so now I have been paying double since March. I cannot and will not stop advocating for what is rightfully mine and for what is impacting the lively hood of my children who don't have food to eat or gas to take my son to his all-star tournament this weekend. It has been broken promise after broken promise. They will not email me what we have talked about and our call record but I will expect to hear the phone recordings when I take them to court. I will call everyday and let everyone I know the disfunction of this company! They "understand" and apologize every time I call, but clearly they don't. I am angry, disappointed and heart broken for my children. The negative impact this company has on the lives of Americans shows no fidelity at all.

I already placed one review that wasnt posted so *** post again. Back in October 2022 I became ill at work. That night I was rushed to the hospital and found out that I had stage five kidney disease.Thank God, I bought the disability insurance, it is two years later and *** be able to go back to work next December. This company has been with me throughout.I remember going through dialysis and I was still in the state of shock, I drove to a gardening center after and member sitting in a parking lot where it was pouring rain.I had to send in one more form and at the end of the conversation the customer service representative asked me if I was OK. I didnt know how to respond to that because no one had asked me that question my family and my friends were panicked, we hadnt talked about how Im doing.I said to the complete stranger who did not have to take a minute more of her time, who couldve moved onto the next customer that I was scared She told me that I would just have to worry about taking care of myself, that I taken the insurance and everything would be OK I had never had that experience before after that moment Awesome folks

This company should not be in business!! They are good at taking your money but when it comes to paying out when you submit a claim they find all kinds of excuses to not pay out. My husband had an accident back on October 12, 2023. I have a policy for STD for him been paying for 4 years through my employer. I file a claim for his STD on March 15, 2024, my claim was denied cause American Fidelity Company stated that I needed to file within 90 days of injuring. How can I file within the time if he wasn't out of work, and we have no idea he was going to be out of work. Doctors are not going to fill out any paperwork if the patient is not totally on disability they follow the medical protocol. This is fraud submitting paperwork while you are still working. I'm sure my human resources is aware of this, they need to change insurance company! I will be canceling my policy with them.

This company is a total mess. Your employer choses them so they know that you can't do anything about their terrible service. Almost every interaction I have had with them has been painful. Nothing has been easy from setting up the online access - was on the phone for hours - to getting my card - had to have it sent 2x because they messed up the address. They have denied claims for no apparent reason and just asked me to resubmit. They also took out the wrong amount of money every month which I caught myself. In a functioning market, they would be out of business. I expect them to be eventually if they don't invest in IT and infrastructure.
