I am being harassed by these people claiming that I owe them money for a loan. I had never heard of them, never asked for a loan, never received any funds from them. I never needed a loan during the time theyre claiming i took one. I have checked my credit Karma and it does not show any loans on my account with them. I need them to stop harassing me. I dont have any supporting documents because there is nothing to show. I have never received any information from them by mail.Business response

Please be advised, American Web Loan is a first party lender and adheres to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA)when communicating with customers regarding outstanding balances owed. American Web Loan only communicates with customers and authorized third parties and does not threaten customers with legal action.

I received a notice stating AWL had sold a $2366 debt to MGM Law for nonpayment in Sept 2023. I have never applied for or taken a loan with AWL. Now this fraudulent debt has been placed on my otherwise perfect credit report. The amount of complaints for this company warrants an investigation by the BBB. I have no doubt this company will respond similarly to all the other numerous complaints stating this fraud was sold to a collection firm to **** off their responsibility and in no way excuses their illegitimate business practices.Business response

I am rejecting this response because: selling a fraudulent debt to collections does not absolve AWL from poor business practice and neglecting to verify identities. A police report has been made for Fraud. These funds were deposited into an unrelated fraudulent account. This company doesnt care because they charge an obscene amount of interest and prey upon people, as evidenced by previous class actions lawsuits and clear pattern of complaints. Shame on you AWL

Over the past couple years I have applied and got loans from American Web Loan paying their high a** interest rates, only to find out yesterday, that their loan services are illegal for them to offer in ************. I ended paying at least 4,000$ in interest fees over the course of these short term loans.Business response

I applied for a loan through them, but unfortunately, when the account number for my bank at Chase was entered, it was put in incorrectly. It was off by one number. The money went to another bank account at ***** that did not belong to me. When I tried to rectify the situation with them, it became such a hassle, even though the first initial phone call the representative told me that it would be returned automatically due to it going to an account that did not have my name on it. I have been in contact with both the company and my bank trying to fix the situation, it seems AWL is refusing to contact my bank further and wanting to make me pay for something I did not receive. Somehow the account the money went to existed when the wire transfer was made; but did not exist when they tried to collect payment, the first payment got returned. Additionally, they refused to give me the name of the bank from which the money originated. It would seem that legally that would be information they have readily available. Every time I ask for it, I am put on hold and the person comes back with no answer, on my previous dealings with them I have the name of the bank ************* but Horizon has no clue who AWL is, seems to me that they are using them as a third party to commit some fraud or maybe money laundering scheme. I just need the account to be closed out and for them to not contact me or try to put it on my credit report. They should be dealing with ********** directly, which is refusing to help as well.Business response

I am rejecting this response because: I have nothing to resolve with you guys. The resolve should be with ***************. I never received said funds, its not my responsibility. Contacting me is not going to do any good. Your refusal to write this matter off due to me NEVER RECEIVING THE ****** shows just how greedy, disgusting and dishonest this company is. Legally, I just was ready that I dont even think you guys are not allowed to give loans for anyone outside the reservation. Therefore you are breaking the law, giving out fraudulent, illegal and immoral loans. Never contact me again! Contact Chase Bank!

In 2021 I was the victim of identity fraud. The person/persons committing this crime unknowingly got access to my Name, Social Security information, Email, etc. I filed a police report and the loans I knew about were deemed fraudulently obtained, the accounts were investigated and closed. I put a fraud alert and locked access to my credit report, which is still in place today. I came know know last week (April 2024) there was another loan, unknown to me until now, with American Web Loan. I'm not sure how or when this loan was obtained as my credit report has been locked since late 2021. The phone number for this business referred to in my credit report doesn't work.Business response

On 4/10/2024 I was quoted a payoff amount of $1646.87. I scheduled that amount for the normal payment date. They deducted that amount from my checking account as well as charging me an additional $212.76 that I did not authorize.Business response
