01/11/2024 My name is *******************, I drive a 2014 Dodge Ram ****. While driving on 01/08/2024 the service engine light came on the dash. I was in ************ **. at the time and I took the vehicle to Autozone for them to check what the code was. The employee stated the #3 coil or spark plug wire was not firing. The vehicle was completely driveable and I didn't see anything wrong other than the service engine light was on. 01/11/2024 I called precision tune auto care ************* to ask about tune up prices, He said they would have to do a diagnostic check to know anything, so I drove my truck to their shop at **** S Memorial Dr. ******** ***** Center #***-09. I didn't have a way to drop-off the vehicle and return to work, so I was stuck there waiting on vehicle testing and repairs. The manager approached me and said the test revealed the #2 coil was bad and a gasket needed to be replaced, but to warranty a tune up they have to replace everything, and that would total $802.22. I felt like that was too much but he said he tested the problem and that was the guaranteed fix. Trusting him, I said yes. 3 hours later they released my vehicle to me and I paid with my debit card, the full amount. I returned to work only noticing the service engine light was no longer on, but after work, at 5pm the vehicle ran dangerously bad. I knew this was not going to make the 55 mile drive home so I called the shop back and said not to close the shop and to please give me time to get there. The truck was sputtering and bucking the whole way there, but I made it. The manager checked the engine again and stated that there was a wire harness that had shaken loose and a zip tie could fix the issue. I waited in the shop while they made repairs again, and they later said I was good to go. I drove back to ************. The next morning I left for work and after driving for 45 minutes the check engine light returned and the truck barely ran again. My wife returned the truck and was thrown out.Customer response

I took pictures of truck the day I purchased the truck, and the day I returned it to precision tune, and later after a mechanic at patriot auto repaired the actual problem.Business response

The repair to my son's 2004 Toyota 4Runner was done on Wednesday, December 6, 2022, where the fuel pump and assembly were replaced at Precision Tune Auto Care at **** **** **** Street in Tulsa, OK. The manager insinuated that there were multiple issues with the car. Michael, my son, indicated the high cost was due to the vehicle needing an assembly as well as the fuel pump. When Michael called around town for quotes, he checked on the cost for a fuel pump only because the other businesses did not separate the cost for the two parts. The manager would not budge on the $2,717.95 charge because he said my son agreed. I truly believe the manager was deceitful and should never have presented such a horrendous cost to anyone requesting that type of service. I have attached the itemized invoice for further evaluation.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2023/01/04) */ Early December customer made informal complaint. At that time we researched the situation. Receiving this complaint from the BBB we have conducted an additional investigation. we have found we followed our policies and procedures correctly. We used our national marked up table for the fuel pump assembly we also use the national labor guide for the labor on the fuel pump assembly. We do see a much cheaper fuel pump without assembly, but that would not have fixed the customers vehicle due to the fact the fuel pump assembly was damaged and broken. We diagnose the car, pinpointed the problem, made a recommendation, and customer agreed to the repairs. As we stated above, we followed company policy and procedure, if another vehicle make and model came in with the same issue, the price would be the same as this situation.
