Currently Bright Horizons operates a daycare center within the St. John Hospital network. When they have a staff member that test positive with COVID-19 they contact the local health department (Tulsa Health Department) and ask for a recommendation. The current recommendation is that anyone who has had exposure and is not vaccinated would be required to quarantine for 10 days. In this case all of the children at the center are too young for a vaccination. Following the recommendation from the Tulsa Health Department is understandable even though no public schools in the area are following it. The complaint is that Bright Horizons has made it policy that any child that must quarantine at home due to an exposure must continue to pay full tuition while out. Bright Horizons is in a staffing crisis right now as my own son has had multiple teachers within the past three months. Two of them have now tested positive and twice now we have had to remove our child but still pay for a service we cannot use. On top of that we must then find alternative care. Bright Horizons willfully put this policy into place during the pandemic to ensure payment. It is in Bright Horizons interest to have as many children out of the center on quarantine as they continue to receive income and do not have to address the staffing crisis.
