Marketing person by the name of *********************, claiming to be with PG&E, fraudulently enrolled me with AAA Natural Gas during a phone call on or around January 19 2024. He claimed PG&E was offering seniors (I'm 81 years of age) a discount of approximately 38% off my bill along with a $50 check .He already had all my information from PG&E bills and knew the last four numbers of my SS#, my date of birth and other properties I own.I said I was not aware of this program and he said it was new and the program applied to both my properties he could see on my bill. He brought a third person on the line and had me answer three questions: Did I live at *************, was I current in my payments to PG&E, and would I confirm that no governmental agency pays any part of my utility bill. I confirmed that. There was no mention of any other supplier of natural gas. After the phone call of around January 19 2024, I contacted PG&E to see if there was indeed a new discount for seniors and was told there was not. I looked online and saw that there are scammers pretending to be with PG&E but since I did not have the number for the person who called me, I couldn't call to verify that this was not a scam.Yesterday, February 9, 2024, I received an enrollment form from AAA Natural Gas thanking me for enrolling with them. It says I have 3 days from date of the recorded voice date to opt out. Otherwise the service commences on my next meter read which is around February 16 2024 and continues on on a month to month basis and may only be canceled with 60 days notice.I never agreed to switching my gas or electric supplier during that phone call on or around Jan 19 2024 and do not want to wait 60 days for their service to end. I would like the enrollment cancelled effective immediately. There is a phone number on the *** enrollment form. I called but have not reached a person yet, but I sent a letter (with certificate of mailing) today.

      Business response

      02/29/2024

The customer did agree to all the terms of switching to AAA Natural gas on 1/15/2024 with an outside sales agent for AAA. The customer was processed for a cancellation however it does take up to ****************************************** the middle of a billing cycle. All charges are valid for the time period.

      Customer response

      02/29/2024

I am rejecting part of this response and accepting some of it.:

I accept that AAA Natural Gas has cancelled the enrollment for them to become my gas supplier; I'd like to thank them for taking care of that -- but when I spoke with ***** on February 12, 2024  (two days after I received the enrollment form), she said she was putting through the cancellation right away and that it would take 30 to 60 days to go through depending on when the meter was next read and when PG&E processed the cancellation. I spoke with Third Party Relations at PG&E and I understand  there was an effective account change date of February 13, 2024.   -- so ... I reject the 90 day cancellation time frame.  And I also reject the comment that I agreed to the switch.  At no point when I spoke with ********************* did he mention anything about a change in supplier.  He told me he was with PG&E and they were reaching out to seniors (I'm 81 years of age)  he said I would get a 38% discount in my bill and also said I would receive a $50 check.  There was no mention of my switching gas supplier.

I would like confirmation from AAA Natural Gas that the cancellation was  indeed processed on February 12, 2024 and that it will be effective within the 30 to 60 days Maria  promised over the phone.  I also want to be sure there is no cancellation fee.  The confirmation number ***** gave me on February 12, 2024 was 0505686856.

******* has charged $297 on the past two PG&E bills fraudulently. I called *******, and they sent me "proof" that I agreed to this service. They sent me an mp3 audio file of an Indian man claiming to be me. I am floored. Anyone can add a service to my PG&E bill without any verifiable information? This is unacceptable. AAA said they would cancel the service in 60 days. In the meantime, I'm being charged $297 per month. This is FRAUD. Canceling my servcie in 60 days does nothing for the current charges I am being billed.Litterley the voice in the mp3, has a very heavy indian accent. ITS NOT ME. I did not give my concent.

      Customer response

      02/27/2024

AAA Natural Gas has scammed me. They signed me up without my permission. This is my second pge bill with the joke of charge on it (Feb 2024) .When I contacted their customer support, they sent me a 3rd party verification mp3 file. In the audio, you can hear an AAA NG rep saying, "Please confirm you are B. pleasant," and an INDIAN man confirmed with a heavy accent says, "Yes. " This is outright fraud. AAA NG said they would cancel my account after three months. So, in the meantime, I am being billed an additional$300 dollars. PG&E had the nerve to tell me I had no option but to pay it. PG&E is probably a part of this scam, and They know full well what is going on. I still have the mp3 file from *************************, the customer service rep of **********************.

      Business response

      02/29/2024

The first part of the telephone verification is the outside sales agent providing the information for the customer to sign up and then second half of the call is the customer agreeing to the terms. The customer was charged the correct amount and would have been charged more by PGE had he bought his gas directly from them. The customers account has been submitted for a cancellation and will go back to the utility on 3/18/2024.

      Customer response

      03/02/2024

Thank you for this.  However, in the 3rd party verification which is a (mp3) file that WAS SENT to me FROM AAA ,  that is supposed to confirm that I signed up, the ***** IS NOT MINE.  ITS AN INDIAN MAN PRETENDING TO BE ME.  I do not mean to yell.  I'm just trying to put emphasis on the fact that their Proof IS FRAUDUELNT.  ITS NOT ME GIVING CONSENT.  The voice in the mp3 file does not belong to me.  Shall i send the file to you?

I would not be this adamant if this was legit my fault.  I can not let this company get away with this.  This is fraud.  This is ridiculous.  Again, my frustration is not towards BBB.

I must have somehow been signed up for AAA ENERGY SERVICES at some point. I don't recall this. I only noticed this because of the huge jump in my bill from last month. They are charging me $56.40 for something PG&E is already doing and billing me for. I called a few times but the outgoing message states that they are closed for the holiday. I don't expect to get anywhere with getting through on the phone, but would like to cancel this. Any help with this would be appreciated.

      Business response

      01/16/2024

The customer was only charge from AAA for the gas itself and PGE charged for the Transporation. Our offices were closed through the 3rd for the holidays however we have processed this account for a cancellation from our service.

      Hello,

I just received my latest bill for service between 12/22-1/23 and there is still a charge from AAA Energy Services. Shouldn't that have ended as off their last reply? This really has to stop. It's a scam and I can't afford these xtra high charges for something I'm already paying my energy provider for. I would like a refund for the days over their response that they would terminate and a total stop to these charges.

      Thank you,

      *********************

This company solicited my elderly father with dementia over the phone posing as PG&E and signed him up for services. When I called to have it cancelled they said it takes ***** days in addition to a $100 cancellation fee. This is hundreds of dollars for no product or services being siphoned from fixed income individuals.

      Business response

The terms of the agreement are explained in detail and we are providing the natural gas for the location. The ***** days is per the local utility guidelines as they will not drop an account immediately.

I did not sign up, or agree to use this company to transport natural gas to me in **********. They called and hassled my husband, who is 82 years old about using their services. They sent us a letter as if to say you agreed to use ******* as your supplier. I have power of attorney over my husband and manage all the bills and finances that we hold. I called AAA and told them that my husband does not have the authority to authorize any services this company is pushing on him. They are so hard-up for clients that they use PG&E as a way to lure people into thinking they are legit. Anyway, I called the number on the paper that came from them and spoke to *****, who gave me a cancellation number. The next day after I talked to her, I sent an **mail requesting a written confirmation that I was cancelled from using their service. The **mail form was sent on 10/30/2023. The form said in writing that they would respond within one business day to all messages and **mails. They never responded to my **mail message. I would like for you to persue this and get them to send me what I asked for. I do not want any services from them. I use PG&E and I am staying with them.

AAA outside consultant did explain everything to the customer however we are not able to decipher who can make changes who cannot. The account did not ever start with AAA and will never start. AAA did search our email and we do not have an email from the customer at all.

      Customer response

      12/23/2023

The company name for this complaint is AAA Natural Gas. Their email address is **************** Again, I was told they do not send cancellation notices in writing, but that the account was canceled. I want to find out why they will not confirm  a cancellation in writing? This is an outside contractor trying to lure customers to get natural gas through them instead of  *********** and Elecrtric in **********.

      Business response

      12/28/2023

AAA will provide a cancellation number over the phone however sending anything by mail to a customer is not cost effective. We are a third party provider and have been for many years in the ********** market.

This guy cancel to my foot one afternoon in 2022 and was all excited to tell me about this company he worked for called AAA Energy Service. He started out asking how much I paid for gas and he told me wouldn't it be great to pay one price and use all three gas you want and never pay more than $24.99 a month. Once he said that I was hooked because I was paying more like $150 a month and it was killing my wallet every month to pay that much. Well SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, guess what he LIED LIED LIED to me about what AAA ENERGY SERVICE was all about. This guy has many tricks up his sleeve because as he was selling AAA ENERGY SERVICES he then switched to having me fill out paperwork me a free Obama Phone and Tablet. He let me hold onto the tablet while he set up my new phone but then took the tablet back and never spoke of it again. He routed me off so I never used his stupid phone I left it in the box and gave it away to someone who may use it. This guy was a joke, yes he had me say yes to all the telephone questions and when I hesitated he said yes for me and that made me so angry. This AAA ENERGY SERVICE is a SCAM that make you believe you'll be getting relief from high gas bills but the lite is is you'll be paying not the $24.99 but will see that amount climb to $28.99 then $30.99 and who knows how much higher it will go. I've tried to cancel my service with them to find myself waiting on on forever hold and never talking to a single person so I want every Penny this company has stolen from me back because I don't support companies that lie to get ahead. They should be ashamed to call themselves a relief anything because they are causing more harm than any good PERIOD!!!

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2022/08/16) */ AAA Spoke with customer on 8/4/2022. The customer did state she agreed to the service and answered all the questions that were asked of her. The customer is upset that it is a up to 60 days cancellation policy. During our call the customer never stated that she was sold a savings. All the terms are agreed to on the telephone verification and you can clearly hear the customer state yes she understands the program. The customer is also given a welcome call to make sure she wants to enroll with service and understand everything. The customer is then mailed a welcome packet with the terms of service. The account has been on service since November of 2021. TPV attached Consumer Response /* (3000, 10, 2022/08/18) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I never received any welcome packet. The guy who sold me on the company did sell me telling me there'd be no change in my bill. I was never informed of the 60 day cancelation prior to signing up. The phone call for confirmation was hard to understand, especially because of my brain injury. Business Response /* (4000, 12, 2022/08/30) */ The welcome packet was mailed to the customers address along with PGE sent the customer a letter letting her know she was switching to a third party provider. The welcome call was made and a voicemail was left for the customer that stating she had 3 days to cancel the enrollment without being enrolled. The telephone verification is clear on the program and the details. The customers account will be cancelled based on the cancellation terms. Consumer Response /* (3000, 19, 2022/10/19) */ ***Document Attached*** And they're still charging me - more than 90 days later... Liers Business Response /* (4000, 21, 2022/10/25) */ The customers account did end on 10/10/2022. Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/06/09) */ The agent that enrolled the customer was wearing an AAA badge and all documents that she showed to the customer stated it was AAA. The customer was left a voicemail back in January stating if she had any questions about the program to give AAA a call. The customer was mailed a welcome packet as well with the details of the program. The program can save the customer money some months but it is not guaranteed each month. The customer was on service for 5 months before she reached out and when she did it was due to her bill rising which was not because of AAA. The customers bill is higher due to her electricity charges being higher. The customers account was submitted for a cancellation per the agreement of her contract. The TPV is attached and no adjustment will be made.
