01/28/2021 - I went for a Covid test and this business had advertised free Covid testing and in fact on 12/22/2020 I have gotten a free Covid test. However for the 01/28/2021 Covid test they are attempting to charge me over $3,000. Additionally, my other statements are significantly more than what other local hospitals charge.Customer response

I was charged approx. $3,000 for a Covid test. Tulsa ER & Hospital price gouged during Covid and they were in the News for doing this. Additionally, the other bills I have attached show that they charge grossly above market prices.Customer response

It is unfortunate and regrettable that our patients are placed in between their insurance carrier and the provider for reimbursement. However, this is a direct consequence of the illegal and malicious practice of **** in their treatment of out-of-network providers. It is solely on the hands of **** that patients are put in this position. We have tried to notify the patient of the **** checks they have received for our services and turn the checks over to the facility. It is only after these multiple attempts are made without resolution that we have no other avenue to recoup the **** checks than to place patients into collections. I want to make it clear that we are only seeking the **** check amount as reimbursement. Once received, all other patient responsibility will be adjusted so there is no remaining out-of-pocket expense to the patient.
Please see attached documentation confirming the **** payments owed and the timeline of communication with the patient.
Respectfully,

I am rejecting this response because:
The hospital is not taking responsibility for their billing practices that have put many patients in a predicament with creditors and ruined credit. Their past billing practices with major insurance companies (e.g. BCBS) have resulted in checks not being issued or being issued to the facility in the patient's name, resulting in many of these bills being turned over to creditors. Hopefully I will eventually get the checks from BCBS but what is Tulsa ER going to do to remedy the situation and how it's affected my credit?
Additionally, the hospital has not provided the itemized bills that I had requested and they have over-billed for services outside of fair market value. They provided general statements but not the itemized statements requested.
I am not the only patient experiencing this unethical billing by Tulsa ER:

By federal law (No Surprises Act), all emergency care is covered as in-network no matter the ** where you are treated. This means it will not cost you any more to be seen in our facility than it would anywhere else because we adjust the charges to your insurance companys in-network rate. If you are seen at our facility your only out-of-pocket costs will be the in-network deductible, co-pay and co-insurance amounts that are part of your specific plan. These are costs you would incur no matter which Emergency Room you choose to visit. Your insurance must process your claim at the in-network level and apply any patient responsibility, if any, towards the in-network benefits. We bill by industry standard E&M (evaluation & management) codes for ** service. ***************************************************************************
All statement and check details were provided to the patient when she met with our Facility Administrator in January. Please see the previous documentation that was uploaded that shows that BCBS sent the patient checks for our services, Again, all we are asking for is that the patient turn over the checks that BCBS sent her for our services and we will adjust off any remaining patient responsibility. This is not due to any billing practices at Tulsa ** & Hopsital. This is a direct consequence of the malicious practices by BCBS against out-of-network providers.

I am rejecting this response because:
*************************************************************************** - Link is non-working.
I asked for itemized statements and the documentation provided from Tulsa ER are not itemized statements. No checks have been received from BCBS despite follow-up.
My credit is still going to be (excuse my French) ****** because of this so what is Tulsa ER going to do if BCBS FINALLY sends the checks and Im able to pay whatever they send as far as the credit bureaus go?I will seek legal action against Tulsa ER if my credit is going to be destroyed for years to come. In fact Tulsa ER can contact my attorney going forward, particularly about the bogus Covid bill: ********************* ************.

ON Jan 25, 2021 I visited the Tulsa ER and Hospital Physicians in Tulsa OK for a standard Covid Test. They told me they would bill the insurance company but the insurances company would send me a check and then i was to pay them with that check. I received a bill for $1316.28 and then I received a check from Anthem BCBS for $1316.28. I paid Tulsa ER $1316.28 in Sept. 2021. In Oct. 2023, Southwest Recovery Credit put a collection on my credit report for $1222.16. I have called Southwest Recovery and they told me that there were 2 separate bills - One from Tulsa EP and 1 from Tulsa ER, both for $1316.28 and that I should have received checks for both of these bills from Anthem. Anthem told me there was only 1 charge and only 1 check. I called Tulsa ER 3 times and each time they put me on hold and subsequently hung on on me.This bill was paid in full and Tulsa ER/EP needs to resolve this issue with their billing and collection agency Southwest RecoveryBusiness response
